Protection from the Intoxicated

I am writing this on New Year's Day. Later this day the news will report how many people died in auto accidents. People intoxicated with alcohol or drugs will cause most of those accidents.
The easiest way to avoid the carnage is to stay at home. If you don't want to stay at home, either let someone drive who is sober, or stay sober and drive yourself. If you drive drunk and cause damage to property or hurt someone, you are a bad reflection on the occult community. As far as I'm concerned, there is no difference between an intoxicated person who drives and a person who picks up a loaded gun with the intention of hurting someone.
Of course, even if you are sober, it will be difficult for you to avoid someone who suddenly crosses the divider line and plows into you at 65 miles per hour.
In my book, Modern Magick, I explained how you could make your vehicle "invisible." This does not mean that you and your car would become transparent. Rather, it means that people will tend not to notice you.
But this will do you no good in avoiding a drunk. If one pulls into your lane and is heading directly for you, it won't matter if you are obvious or invisible.
Just as a ritual for invisibility will not prevent someone who is really looking for you from discovering your whereabouts, the following
"Adrenaline Ritual" will not offer you 100% safety, but it should provide some degree of safety from the intoxicated. The purpose is to provide people outside of you with a sudden surge of adrenaline. This will increase the flow of blood to the brain and give them a bit more awareness of their surroundings.
Since the idea is to protect your vehicle and its passengers, the exterior of the vehicle is the location for doing a purification ritual. Use your favorite method.
Next, begin walking around your car in a clockwise direction. As you walk, create a visualized wall of bright, blue psychic light around the car. With each circling of the car, visualize the wall getting thicker and brighter. Remember, if you can't "see" your visualization, know (don't hope, believe, or merely think it) that the wall is there and that if your ability to see into the astral plane was better you would be able to see it. Circle the car at least three times, although you may go more if you wish. You may dance the circles, run them, or do them in any fashion you desire. When finished, your wall should form an oval or circle about three feet out from the edge of the car. It should be about five feet in height and at least a foot thick.
Next, you are going to create faces in the wall. These faces should be as frightening as possible, so someone seeing one would be scared and get an adrenaline rush. Move to the front of the car and visualize the most terrifying face that you can conceive. Now, imagine what sound that face would make. Try to imitate that sound, and as you do, see the face take its place in the wall (all faces should be pointed away from your car, of course). Now repeat the process at the sides and rear of the car. Create different faces and sounds if you can. For extra protection, add extra faces between the four at the front and sides of the car.
Modify this ritual as you desire. For example, you may want to have just one bizarre creature with multiple faces. Or instead of faces you may want to create entire monsters. Use your imagination.
When creating the Wall of Light, envision a date for the effects to end. Since the faces are in the Wall, when the Wall fades the faces will dissipate also. If you want the spell to end earlier, banish the wall and faces according to your favorite method. |
