Aspect In Astrology: A Comprehensive Guide to Interpretation
By Sue Tompkins
ISBN 1-85230-081-7. Element Books Limited, P0 Box 830, Rockport, MA 01966 reprint 1997, 283pp, Illustrated, Biography. $25.00.
This is an informative and useful guide to an absorbing subject. It will appeal most to the experienced astrologer or to the dedicated beginner. Probably the most useful text, after The New A to Z Horoscope Maker and Delineator by Llewellyn George 1910, copyright 1981 and Spiritual Astrology by Jan Spiller and Karen McCoy, 1988, in providing standardized descriptions of the interaction of planets and houses in the natal horoscope.
The volume is divided into three components. First is a general over view of Aspect Interpretation, including planetary qualities, meaning of aspects and qualities of elements and signs. Second is a "Planetary Cookbook", more of an appendix, but written in book format. Finally a short section discussing angles of relationship between the ascendant - midheaven complex and nearby planets.
The book is written in easy to understand language, with ample examples to make clear the operations that are taking place. The interpretations are done in the modern context of aiding, challenging and establishing obstacles for the native, rather than the older malefic and benefice mode. |
