Blessing for a Child

Dear Little One,
Today you have been born once again to begin your journey of learning and growth here.
Wherever you may go, tread softly upon the Earth, for She is your Mother. Remember to care for Her. Take care of Her plants and animals.
Honor them and they shall care for you when there is need.
Learn from them what knowledge they will impart.
Look to the east and the winds for strength.
Face into the winds and learn to use their power to sustain you.
Do not abuse the air for She is our breath of life shared by all on this earth.
Air brings movement and change.
Do not fear Her.
Work with Her and She will speed you on your way as She does the eagle and the hawk.
In the south you will find fire, the fires of passion and desire.
Do not run from them but embrace them, tempered with wisdom.
At times your fire may be a roaring bonfire and other times a tiny ember.
Embers can be fanned into flames and bonfires smothered.
Remember that you control your fires.
Feed them and tamp them down as need be.
West is for water, the waters of emotion.
These ebb and flow as the tides of the sea with the turning of the moon.
Sometimes they are as hard to catch as the waves upon the shore and other times seem to rush over us as the tidal waves do. Learn to ride the crest of the waves and they will never overcome you.
Listen to the seas for they are both calming and energizing.
In the north you will find steadfastness and strength.
Sink your roots deep into Mother Earth and feel Her strength and Her nurturing.
Even the smallest blade of grass can withstand the buffeting winds when its roots are deeply grounded.
Stand tall and proud as the White Buffalo and feel the earth's love.
Spirit is in the center of all.
Keep your spirit centered and you will never lose your path. Celebrate the Moon and let Her powers guide you, for indeed you are a Child of the Moon.
May you be blessed with the knowledge and remembrance of the old ways, and wisdom to use your knowledge for the betterment of yourself, the earth and all that dwells within, and the courage to see you through any situation.
When you look to the sky and see the moon smiling down upon you, know that I am also watching you and sending you my love.
