Gleanings:
Merry Meet!
Welcome to the Lughnassdh issue of New Moon Rising, an issue very late in arriving. Although the summer is almost over we are happy to note that we have made some significant changes behind the scenes that should diminish the prospects of future delays. Rather than skip an issue or worse, do a double issue, I have decided to go ahead and publish this special issue and send it out late. The Beltane issue will be out towards the middle of September.
Many of you have lamented over missing Terry Lamb's forecast. For this reason I have included it. Even though the time has past there is still a great deal that can be learned by reflecting over the immediate past in the light of her sage observations. The next issue will have a four-month forecast to bring us in line with our new publishing cycle.
So what happened? Well, jumping into the role of publisher/editor, doing the production & layout and hold down a full time job brought us to critical mass. (Hats off to Scot for having done it solo for ten years!) It has taken us several months to find our ground, learn the business and discover the best way to accomplish our goals of publishing a top grade international magickal pagan journal. The time has been well spent.
We have engaged a very talented and experienced production/layout team who will help fill out the magazine's staff. You will start seeing the fruit of their efforts in the next issue. As I mentioned in the last issue, this is a time of growth and change for NMR. This will be very apparent in the next three issues when we make some remarkable transformations. I would encourage you to drop us a note and let us know what you think of them.
Inside you will find an excellent article by Mike Howard on Gerald Gardner that originally appeared in his quarterly journal The Cauldron, which is published in Wales. It brings together much need information about the man and the beginnings of the Gardnerian Craft, information that is hard to come by on either side of the pond. Of course, Terry Lamb brings us her excellent forecast and Donald Michael Kraig with insight.
I hope you enjoy this issue. It is dedicated to you, the loyal subscribers to NMR.
Bright Blessings!
