A Faerie Poem
By Diana Haronis
We have danced on the earth
since the dawn of time.
Our song is the call of the wind.
Our poetry is heard in the gentle rain
and the thundering sky.
We were born of Summer's first kiss,
As he melted the snows of Winters deep sleep,
Awaking within Her the promise, of life.
We are the eternal,
The oldest and the youngest,
The ever flowing stream
which quenches the thirst of the believer.
Our religion is ancient and it is new;
Born anew within each child of light
Who seeks to hold its eternal truth.
Bending and swaying, like
the windblown branches of the mighty oak.
Its roots are strong, yet the branches are free
to be moved by the spirit of wind and change.
We are real and we are illusion
Fantasy and fact.
We are the earth, the essence of nature
And the fulfillment of life.
We are the eternal, ever unfolding, ever new,
Creative spirit of the imagination
Of the Goddess and the Gods.
