Basic Chakra Work
Judith Wise
The rainbow technique clears blocks, purifies and generally strengthens the seven major
energy centers of the body, the chakra. Don't let its simplicity fool you, it is very
potent.
The usual color correspondences for the chakra can vary considerably in hue. For
instance, red may be light or dark or red-orange. Be sure to note the color (and its hue)
that you experience in each chakrum. You may observe more than one color in a chakrum, or
a different color than that listed here. Be sure to note the color(s) you experience in
each chakrum for later meditation. Different color(s) may indicate a block in one of the
chakra. This is because there are different color correspondences for the seven different
`bodies' which inhabit the physical body. While green corresponds here to the heart
chakrum, rose and gold are also correct for different `bodies' or `levels.'
Breathe through your mouth during the exercise, so you can experience the taste of
color. Listen for the sound of color. Experience its feel. Note everything you see, taste,
feel, smell, or hear and explore this in later meditations. This is your checklist for
each color and chakrum.
The Rainbow Technique
See yourself sitting inside your egg-shaped aura. This aura extends three feet on all
sides of you: top, sides and bottom. This is about as far out to the sides as your arms
extend.
See yourself inside this aura. You are a brilliant white light; every organ, every
eyelash; every cell of your body is a tiny sun. You are the white light!
Turn that white light into a bright, warm red light. This is the root chakrum: the
physical center of fight or flight survival, of general health, of basic security. Red is
life producing. Remember your checklist. How does red feel? What does it taste like, smell
like? Do you hear anything in red? How does it make you feel? Is any part of your body
reacting to red? Make your mental notes!
Turn the red light into a bright orange light. This is the spleen chakrum: the reserve
energy center, the second wind, and the sexual/sensation feeling center. This center is
concerned with pleasure, happiness and addictions of all kinds. It is also the color of
the Causal Plane where the Akashic records areyour karma. Go through the checklist,
make your mental notes.
Take the orange light and turn it into a bright, light yellow. This is the solar plexus
chakrum, your mental/emotional state of being, so make it a happy shade of yellow. This is
a power center in that it deals with prestige and prideyour sense of self-worth. It
can be hierarchical, manipulative and controlling. Go through your checklist and make
mental notes on the shade or shades of yellow and the possible presence of other colors
mixed in.
Now turn the yellow into a bright green color for the heart chakrum. This chakrum is
concerned with love, growth, prosperity and opportunity. It also represents compassion for
the suffering of those trapped in the lower chakra of security, sensation and power. This
color is life-preserving (that's why green vegetables are good for you). The heart chakrum
transforms the energy of the three lower, more physical chakra. It makes the energy more
subtle, light and finer with unconditional love for everyone (including yourself). Go
through the checklist, make notes.
The green becomes the light blue color of the throat chakrum, the command center. This
is the `I AM' consciousness within each of us; the God/Goddess/All That IS part of us that
creates. That part which speaks the Word and it is so. This is also the center for the
third ear, where we learn to `hear' psychically. The back of this center is where psychic
attack comes in, because this is our will power center. Blue is a very spiritual color;
mixed with green, it is also very healing. Do your checklist and mental notes.
Take that light blue and make it a dark blue for the 3rd eye chakrum. It can be a royal
blue, a navy blue or even black with a swirl of colors. This chakrum is also the chemical
factory of your body; it is always adding things to keep you in balance. From this center
you are aware of other worlds, other entities, other ways of being. What color is this
chakrum for you? Do your checklist and notes.
Now mentally `bring up' the red of the root chakrum and add it to the dark blue of the
3rd eye chakrum. This makes a blue-purple or violet color. Bring this color up to the
crown chakrum. Next imagine a small brilliant sun about the size of a soccer ball about
three feet over your head. This is the lowest chakrum of your High Self. Mentally see a
ray of brilliant white light flow down to your crown chakrum, turning the violet light
into a light lavender shade. The shade you see in the sunset at evening is perfect. You
can also see it in a gas stove flame: first there is the yellow flame with a blue center
and within the blue center, a tiny portion of lavender color. This is the color of
purification. Stay in this color as long as you are comfortable. It tends to make one
nervous after a while.
Finally, return to the brilliant white light. Always begin and end with the white
light.
Some `bleed-through' of color from the chakrum above or below is natural; but if you
are getting light blue instead of orange or mixed with orange in the spleen chakra, that
indicates a block in the throat chakrum. The blue is blocked in the throat, so it
bleeds-through a more open chakrum. This tells you where you need to work. In this case,
you would ask, "Am I repressing what I really want to say?" Are you holding back
the truth from someone, from yourself maybe? These chakra meditations can be very helpful
in showing where your blocks are. They also strengthen the chakra, prevent blockages and
keep the energy flowing smoothly. This helps all seven bodies.
Please write if you have any problems with this meditation or do not understand
something you see, hear, smell, taste, or feel. I will be happy to answer your questions
in future issues. JW
Blessed Be
