The Other Editorial By Judith Rhoads Looking for a Guide? My teacher in the Craft taught me never to divert the attention of the just departed for the first three to four days. Cry only softly; don't call out their name, etc. This is an important period for them of going over their recent life and judging it. When spirit hears their name, they respond to it even when we can't see the response. The departed one's full attention needs to be on the judgment. It is a time when the lessons learned are impressed and decisions made for either another life or going on. Too much distraction can be a problem for them. So I waited till the fourth day after his death to do a meditation on Scott Cunningham. A guide told me that Scott was busy remembering and enjoying. My impression was that he was remembering who he was and what he was; a spirit with an immortal soul. He was dehypnotizing from the physical life he just left, shucking off the trauma of physical illness, waking up to his true Self. I was also informed that in three months (our time) Scott would be ready to communicate with people and help those who call on him, that he would continue his teachings from the other side. This was wonderful news and I told our coven, but few others. One can't speak of these things to just anyone. Later I received a letter from a lady friend in L.A. I was pleasantly surprised because it has been a while since we had corresponded. She said she just had to write immediately to tell me about a strange but wonderful experience. She had been making some oils and discovered she was out of an ingredient and needed to substitute an herb. She said she instantly thought of Scott and could hear him tell her another herb she could use. It was so natural that she responded to his voice by stating that she wasn't sure that was the right herb to use. Then, realizing she was alone and not talking physically with Scott, she decided to look up the herb and check it out. Scott's voice was right. She stated she felt Scott so strongly she was sure it was him giving her the advice, especially since she disagreed about the herb at first. I looked at the date on her letter and it had been written exactly three months from the day of my meditation. My guide was right, and it was wonderful to have confirmation. My lady friend was guided to write to me of this, even though we hadn't corresponded in quite a while. We spread the word then about Scott's offer to help any who call on him. The offer bears repeating now and then, that many of our departed are ready and willing to help when we call on them. As Crafters we are lucky to have a loved and respected writer and teacher like Scott Cunningham to reach out to. During this time especially, when the veil is thinnest, give Scott a call. Take him up on his offer. Blessed Be! JR |
