Press Release from the Earth Conclave Spring Conclave 1996— the Body Eclectic: Are we our body? Thursday, April 11th to Sunday April 14th, 1996 within today's society many expectations and limitations exist for this temple, this shell, this machine we call a body. These often-contradictory constructs can create a rocky relationship with and within our own selves. If we approached our relationship with our bodies with an eclectic attitude—i.e., only picking those things that work for us—what would change—could we actually experience ourselves as our bodies? How might we feel about movement, physical health, the body as a psychic tool, meditation as a physical process, body size and gender. How would or do we practice the physical forms of magic—aspecting, sex magic, earth magic, etc.? What are the pros and cons to experiencing our physical selves to their fullest? Enclave Two— Experiencing Community Friday, May 17th to Sunday, May 19th, 1996—A special gathering for those who have attended at least one Conclave, and who wish to re-visit with each other, expand on conversations, and possibly create a more lasting sense of community as we just hang out with each other in a community based situation. (Attendance at this event will be very small!) Fall Conclave 1996— Paganism as Religion, Paganism as Spirituality For many in this society, any religious/spiritual path that is not Judeo/Christian is considered pagan. But the term Pagan now holds a special meaning for some, it is being applied to and used by those who follow earth/nature centered spirituality, or The Old Religion, or the reclaiming/discovering of pre-Christian religions (or other cultures). This spiritual path is growing in popularity and practice and was recognized by the World Religion Congress held in Chicago in 1994. Let's explore our paths together for a long weekend of sharing and growth. |
