1995: The Year of Vision By LAZARIS 1995: The Year of Vision? In 1994 you changed the course of the future. In 1995, in this upcoming year of Vision, you will define, you will develop, indeed you will begin to direct, that very new course that is the new future that otherwise would never have been. Everyone—with or without their metaphysics, with or without their spirituality—is embarking on uncharted terrain, into uncharted reality. And these next many months can truly be a year that is rich and ripe. It can be a year spilling over with just so much surprise—beautiful, wonderful, elegant, enlightening, enchanting surprises. And yes, shocking surprise, frightening surprise, temporarily paralyzing surprise will set the tempo, will set the tone, of 1995. And there will be many in the world that will choose to focus on the terror, on the shocking, frightening, temporarily paralyzing surprise. There will be many that choose to focus on the impossibility of dealing with surprise—whether that surprise is dark or light. There will be many who will choose to pay attention to the human inadequacies and frailties, and to the improbabilities of coping with surprise, whether they define the surprise as coming out of the past or, more correctly, out of the future. Then there will be a creative minority—fewer than those who focus on the terror, fewer than those who will focus on the human frailties and inadequacies. There will be a creative minority who will seek a deeper meaning and a greater wisdom born of those very surprises, regardless of what adjective is used to describe them. There will be a creative minority, like you, who will use what you have learned and what you have discovered of commitment. You will wend your way through the pessimism of dealing with the impossible, and you will maneuver your way around the cynicism of coping with the improbable. You will weave a new framework and create a new grid with which to deal with, cope with and succeed with the actual—the actual of creating your own reality, the actual of becoming even more conscious of it—even as your world is gently moving toward a world that lies beyond that which you create consciously. You will deal with the actuality of receiving the bounty and the abundance of what you consciously create, and that which lies beyond what you consciously create. And the key? The key to this threading and wending, to the maneuvering, and to the weaving and creating, lies in Vision. It lies within the vast, majestic mystery; it lies in the enlightening, enchanting mysticism of Vision. You see, 1994 was not called the Year of Paradox. Nor was it called a Year of Treasures. Rather, it was called the Year of Commitment. Even though the year was filled with treasure, filled with paradox, it was nonetheless a Year of Commitment, because it was with commitment that you could unlock an incredible force with which to deal with the treasure and the paradox. So 1995 is not the Year of Surprise. It will be filled, spilling over, with all kinds of surprise, but it is a Year of Vision. For it is with Vision that you will begin to define, develop and direct the very new course of the future. It is with Vision that you will very intricately, very precisely weave a new framework. It is with Vision that you will create a new grid. And it is with Vision—and with Visioning—that you will discover a new kind of force that will generate a new kind of resonance. And that new resonance will have a radiance more powerful, more potent that you can yet know. There are 12 months eagerly waiting to show you exactly, specifically and very precisely what you can activate and what you can attract with this new resonance. Let us simply say: You will be surprised. {laughter} And Vision holds the key. Vision holds the secrets. Now, let us suggest this most succinctly: Vision and Visioning are not dreaming and programming spelled with a V. It is so very, very much more. Illuminated by the very passion of your Soul, liberated by the very compassion of your Spirit, Vision and Visioning are so much more. Beyond the wax of philosophy, however profound, Vision and Visioning can foster that deeper meaning and that greater wisdom of the highest truth that you create your own reality. Vision and Visioning can foster the discovery of a higher highest truth and the world that lies beyond—a more real world toward which you are all moving. And beyond fostering this discovery, Vision and Visioning are an integral part manifesting that higher highest truth (not just talking about it). You see, you need a new framework, a new grid. And it is with Vision and Visioning combined that you will manifest the highest—and the higher highest—for you and for your world. Now tonight we are not going to plumb the depths of Vision. That is what you will do over the next 12 months. Tonight we want instead to lay a foundation against which you will indeed create this new grid. Realize that the Year of Vision is not an arbitrary name. It is not just a choice, a nifty little label. It is instead the resonance of the year—it is instead the energy. It is the force that is underlying national, international and personal issues of this year. Realize that this is a Year of Vision, that you are developing new vision in a world that in so many ways has lost its Vision, or is too myopic, or too hyperopic to hold a New Vision. International New vision sometimes is born of necessity. And the international scene will reflect that truth as you notice the following: The Movement West and North You know from studying your history or being aware of your own history, that when your United States developed its new vision and sought its new frontiers, Horace Greeley wrote: Go west. Right? And you are going to see that happening in the world internationally. You are going to notice international power centers, however large or small, reaching westward. They will reach westward to tinker, to involve themselves, to intervene, to help, to disrupt. You will see Korea reaching to China, demanding and involving itself in that very large power center. You will see China reaching westward to India, to Pakistan, to Iran. They have already done so, but it is going to become much more evident, much clearer, much more visible in 1995. You will see the Islamic Middle East and the Jewish Middle East reaching westward and northward a bit into Middle Europe or Eastern Europe, into Western Europe, as they demand more play, demand more influence, demand more involvement. They will literally involve themselves, sometimes to hamper or hinder, sometimes to break apart and sometimes to support or mend, sometimes to bond or bind together. You are going to see Europe, indeed Eastern Europe, reaching to the west, certainly so. Russia, reaching to the west, yes. But you are going to notice Europe reaching across the ocean to your United States, absolutely, involving itself, engaging itself, taking a closer look and wanting to be more involved and engaged in your policy, in your world. You're going to notice your United States likewise reaching westward—certainly to Japan and Korea, but also to China, absolutely so. We would suggest here that there will be many in your United States, perhaps in an egocentric way, who will make the major mistake of thinking that those Chinese are primitive and backward and that they are going to blindly or innocently welcome the Westerner to take over. Think back to the Boxer Rebellion and remember: There is the little word inscrutable. The Chinese are not primitive or backward. They are not going to give away their economy or its potential bounty and abundance to the white man. The West will reach to China. Everybody, in a sense, will be getting their fingers into everybody else's business in that westward movement. Going west as you look for new vision. Going west as you try to respond to the necessities of your world. Added to this, in sort of a parenthetical way, is a movement to the north. For example, Africa will be reaching northward. They cannot go west too well. In that regard, they will reach northward, and you will see them reaching into the Middle East and into Europe to involve themselves, and to demand attention. You will also notice the other Americas, the Central and South Americans, reaching northward into your country, into your policy, into your economic base, certainly so. You will notice Australia, often forgotten Australia there—the Down Under, right?—reaching into China and Asia, and doing so with an aplomb and with a certain panache that is going to be surprising to many. And you may well think: How did they get so good at this? How'd they learn to walk so delicately among the tiny roadways? We would suggest here that you could see Australia making grand headway in China that other Western countries simply will not be able to make. Now it can be very positive, absolutely. As the world community grows closer, people realize, individually and as nations, that they do not live in a vacuum, that everything they do does have impact on so many others of the world. It can be very beneficial to open lines of communication and cooperation and harmony. But it also can be disruptive. And it is in that sense, out of that necessity, that will emerge new vision. The Chasm of Ascending/Descending Motivation The second thing that you will notice internationally is what we call the chasm of ascending/descending motivation. What we mean by that is that you are going to notice a lot of developing nations wanting to get on the game board in a more direct way, wanting to steal a bit of the spotlight of the big guys, wanting to play in that world where the big guys play. We use the sexual reference guys in this sense because the world is still heavily chauvinistic. It used to be that the big guys were the United States and the Soviet Union, right? And there was little room for anybody else to get on the playground. Now there are a lot of different people trying to get on that playground and trying to play with the big guys. These smaller developing and undeveloped nations are going to look around and say, What do I have that can get the attention of the major players? If I have an economic base, if I have something of my economic base that I can use to threaten, to taunt, to tease, then I'll do that. But I'll use what I can. We will use Korea as an example—and we underline the word example because it is not the only relevant evidence. North Korea says, I want to play. Can I bring my bustling economy? No. What can I bring? Well, you see, I have this `little hand grenade' called the threat of developing nuclear power. I can hold that hand grenade in my left hand and take the pin out with my right hand, and I can spin the pin around my finger. Somebody is going to notice. Someone is going to pay attention to me. I can put the pin back in and say everything is fine, and keep my finger on it and sort of tease and taunt to try to hold the world, or parts of the world, hostage. And what is going to happen is that these nations are going to espouse lofty goals, espouse lofty vision. We just want nuclear power to make electricity, to heat our homes, to bolster our economy. We do not have any desire to develop nuclear weapons, no, no, no, no, no! From its inception, North Korea (as opposed to a whole Korea) has never yet internationally told the truth, so, of course, now you should believe them? We have lofty goals. We have aspiring visions. We have uplifting, ascending goals. But, in fact, what may well be true are the descending goals of drawing attention, of being a bully like the big guys even though they are so little. And there are other places of the world that do not have even those threats with which to play. They have, perhaps, their population. Or they have, perhaps, deadly disease that could threaten world health. Recently pneumonic plague developed in India. Fifty years ago it might not have been such a major global concern. But with the global community being so small and people flying in and out of India so rapidly, indeed it becomes a global concern. What does a Third World nation do when it has no other bargaining chip? Maybe it uses its epidemic conditions or its overpopulation as weaponry to get attention—as a bargaining chip. Lofty goals, lofty ascending vision, wonderful reasons to participate—reasons which are often countered by the descending, destructive threat that if you don't cooperate, your world, or pieces of it, will be held hostage with whatever it has with which to threaten. This year you will notice the chasm between the ascending, spoken purpose, and the descending motivation. You saw it all this year in Bosnia. You will see it more upon the international scene. Bickering & Brinkmanship Thirdly, the global community will be marked, certainly so, with what we call bickering and brinkmanship. There will be bickering over petty little things at times, and not-so-petty things at others. Well, you did that. Well, we're going to do this. And if you do that, we'll do this. And if you act this way, well we'll do that. There will be all kinds of bickering over issues primarily coming down to greed, pride, deception, and deceitfulness. Same-old, same-old. {laughter} But at the same time there will be the politics of brinkmanship. There will be those who will step forth at that brink to bring resolutions so that the bickering does not escalate into the kind of violence that otherwise it could. Most of the bickering will be economic or sociological. Some of it, of course, will be physical, and in the physical arena, there will be death. But there will be those who will rise to a higher level, who will exert a sense of peace, harmony and character, and cool down the bickering, pulling it away from the brink. Now the thing about this brinkmanship is that it will not follow a steady pattern. It may, for example, be the United States that steps forward and brings sense to an otherwise senseless situation. At another time, it might be Germany, Japan, France, or South Africa. And China. Look to China to step in more than once. Somebody—an individual or a country—will step in to loosen it, to cool it off, to back it away from that edge. And there will be fluidity to that, a flexibility to that, and thus a need for humility. Out of the necessity, new vision. The Demand for Delicate, Precise Diplomacy And finally, internationally there will be a demand for delicate, precise diplomacy. Countries right now do not always have such as a secretary of state or a prime minister who can exercise that kind of diplomacy. In 1995 the world will demand it. And in the international scene, most will rise to the occasion. You may see in international politics the replacement of certain Prime ministers or secretaries of state (depending upon how they are designated in any particular country) because of the need for delicate and precise foreign diplomacy. It will be demanded by your world. Again, out of necessity will emerge new vision, statesman-like vision, whether those statesmen are male or female. These are the four international energies. Each of these components has its potential for distress and disaster, but each also has its potential for the emergence of something new. On the international scene, sometimes new vision is born of necessity. National New vision can be born of necessity, but new vision can also be born of opportunity. And as a national energy you are going to see 1995 be filled with opportunity. You know, historically, your country has been known as the Land of Opportunity. And people from all over a world of necessity has for two centuries come to your country to find that opportunity. And so in this new time, seek opportunity, for new vision can emerge not only from necessity, but also from opportunity. What are you going to see in your country? Debate & Demand Well, the first thing we suggest is that the debate and the demand that so fervently continued through 1994 is going to continue even more clearly and fervently in 1995. What does it mean to be America? What does it mean to be American? What is your role? What is your participation? How do you engage? How do you involve? How do you participate in the world? And the demand will remain as well: I want not more promises. I want action. I want something done. I want answers to the questions. And you are going to see this debate and demand, which last year was two issues, combine into one issue. And you are going to see several issues becoming part of that debate and part of that demand: Are you standing on the brink of destruction, or are you on the verge of a whole new opportunity? There will be many who will claim and insist that you are on that brink of total, absolute destruction. There will be those who will tell you: No, no, no, quite to the contrary, finally there is hope again. Finally there's opportunity again. Finally we are standing on the verge of something very, very new. Brink vs. Verge will be part of the debate, part of the demand. Are you taking power away, or are you taking power back? Are you taking power away from a government, from a state, from a person—are you taking it away from those who have or from those who have not? Are you taking power away, or are you taking it back? The debate will continue more intensely. Are you at a point of impasse or at you at point of new path? What does it mean to rebuild America? Does it mean to retreat, or does it mean to involve yourself more? What does it mean? Now, as an example of what we mean—and we truly do use this as an example, not as the text of what we mean, but an example: You did have this election in November, and there was the Republican sweep. And you now have what some say is a new domestic president, Newt Gingrich. Now, for some of you, that may be clear evidence of a nightmare. {laughter} If it is, get busy. Get busy, for it is clarifying the debate. Get busy creating the reality you would prefer instead. For others it may seem like: Hallelujah! Happy days are here again. If it is, get busy. Get busy creating the reality you prefer. Be conscious and choose: You will use these energies as catalysts of change, or momentum for further change. We are not saying which is right. We are using your last election as an example: This is the debate, this is the demand. This is the not full measure of it: This is the political tip of the iceberg evident in the development that led to the new Congress. Whether you agree with it or not, you are seeing the power of Congress emerging. Is that bringing you to a brink? Or is it bringing you to a verge? Is that about taking power away, or is that about taking power back? Is that talk about rebuilding America a retreat, or involvement in a different way? Are you at an impasse, or are you upon a new path? Beyond the content, we focus on resonance: Will you use the political resonance as a catalyst or as momentum? And in the other arenas of your life, in that resonance, how will you use it? Catalyst? Momentum? Definition & Decision Across your nation there will be more and more defining. What does participation mean? Does it mean reaction or anticipation? What does responsibility mean? How does one take responsibility—by responding to weakness or by responding to strength? What does it mean to be a power in the world? More and more, you are going to see people working to find definition, working to find decision. Demand, debate. Definition, decision. Working together, these energies will form a framework or grid—a context—upon which to play out your daily life. Beyond this context, there is subtext, and there is supertext. Turmoil & Tumult The subtext: Of course, there will be turmoil and tumult. Need we suggest that violence is still going to be an issue—that crime, drugs, abuse and inhumanity are still going to be issues? They will be like an underlying percussion that is a tempo that you do not always hear. This subtext of turmoil and tumult will influence the debate and the demand; it will influence the defining and the decision-making. Subtle, it may seldom be referred to directly. It's like the drone of an air conditioner. Oh yeah, now you hear it. But mostly, you do not really notice it. The subtext influences, and it can be eruptive. Though it drones, it often seems silent. Silence is often its mask or its disguise. For many, the violence will fuel their pessimism. It will fuel their cynicism. But we would also suggest that for the creative minority, it will be a catalyst for a new vision. It will be a catalyst to taking advantage of the opportunities that will emerge amidst the turmoil itself, amidst the violence itself. You will note it as violence, you will note it as inhumanity, and you will note it as injustice. You will also note it as exposures. Yes, there are going to be some shocking exposures that are going to come out this year. It will be, in certain people's minds, an undercutting of the very fabric. There will be disclosures of things in the past and of things that are happening right now. They can shock and surprise you. They can frighten you. We have talked about epidemics and health concerns—things like doctors who are resigning from the CDC (Centers for Disease Control) because of the political infighting there. There will be exposures and disclosures around the FDA that will be part of a tumult that pessimists will use to be more pessimistic, that cynics will use to be more cynical—but that also will also provide a gap of opportunity to make change: For as things seem to be up in the air, it is a perfect time to shoot the gap, to get to the other side, to come in with new energies and new directions and new changes. Spirituality Will Blossom In the supertext, spirituality is truly going to blossom. There is a continuum that for the sake of expediency we will say runs from Extreme Right, Fundamentalism, through the traditional to the avant-garde. And along that continuum there will be those who will rush to their spirituality to hide, that is true. They will rush to the far right, to fundamentalism, and to the traditional. Yes, there will be those rushing to an avant-garde metaphysical spirituality as a place to hide as well. But, more importantly, people will turn to their fundamental, traditional, or metaphysical spirituality seeking the answers, seeking a direction, seeking a definition, looking for answers for that debate and that demand—looking for a way to respond to the tumult and the turmoil that seems like an underlying percussion. Spirituality is the supertext that will respond to the context and the subtext. And many will turn to it genuinely, honestly, beautifully. Now some will turn to a traditional or even fundamental spirituality, and that's OK. They, too, will come to realize that it does not hold all they need, like you realized so many years ago when you began building bridges and making maps for a new kind of spirituality—the New Spirituality—that you found, rather than find. These things nationally: demand, debate, definition, and decision. A subtext of turmoil; a supertext of spirituality. If you know how to look, if you can develop vision, if you can work with visioning, you can develop a new framework, a new grid that can provide the opportunity of a New World in this most monumental decade yet unfolding. Personally We want to remind you that when we speak of the personal aspects of the year, we do not mean that they are directed only at those of you who gather metaphysically. We do not mean just the spiritual people in the world. We mean everybody. People who know nothing (or think they know nothing) of metaphysics and spirituality will still have these issues with which to deal. People who are even sure they know enough and it's not worth knowing anything more will have these issues coming up for evaluation. People all over the world—from the simplest, to the most complex—are going to face these issues in 1995. Coming Face to Face with What's Real It is a time that people come face to face with what is real for them. That means that people will get real in 1995 like they never have before. Some people will wake up and face the tragedy that their life has become. Others will wake up and face truths like they have never seen them before. Others will face what is real and will have to own the beauty and the wonder, the magic and the miracles, the power and the strength of their lives. You see, whatever is real; people are going to face it in 1995. 1995 is where the rubber meets the road {laughter} where theory turns into practice, where it becomes oh, so very real. Even though it is an illusion, it's a very real illusion. And the realness of that illusion, if you will, is something that everybody, in their own way, is going to face. Now some may face it by denying, discounting, defending or distracting from it. Some will refuse it or reject it. But everyone is going to come face to face with what is real for them. And this will be important: Are you making your reality too real, giving too much power to the illusion—or are you not making it real enough, dismissing it? That is the continuum, yes? There are those who make it far too real, often lost in the drama and melodrama. There are those who make it not real enough, often lost in their own dismissive cynicism. But everybody's going to face what's real for them. This is why we talk so fervently about finding that balance between not making it too real and making it real enough. This is why we talk about staying in the narrows, facing what's real with a responsible honesty, with a responsible truth. It is an I'm-going-to-stay-with-it-until-I-work-through-it type of honesty and truth. It is giving birth in the narrows, facing what's real without making it too real, but while making it real enough. It is telling yourself the truth, the responsible truth. Be honest, with responsible honesty, and face it. Go into the narrows, and move through the narrows. Give birth in the narrows. If you will do that, if you will face what's real without making it too real, without making it not real enough—if you'll go into the narrows and move through the narrows—you will give birth to a more real self, you will give birth to a more real world, you will give birth to a greater sense of your own being on the other side. For the only way to get there is through the narrows. We are not talking about struggle. {laughter} It is when you stop in the narrows that you run into struggle. It is when you get out of the narrows that you run into struggle. Often you get stuck in or fall out of the narrows by feeling sorry for yourself or by judging yourself and your process. You can get stuck or fall out of the narrows with blame, with arrogant righteousness, or with guilt. There are so many destructive games that can trap you or stop you from going through the narrows. If you cannot see it in yourself, look to those around you. When they are facing the truth and suddenly stop facing it, that is when struggle begins. When they get out of the truth and go wandering around in self-pity and martyrhood or in manipulation and control, that is when the struggle begins. When they stop cold in guilt, struggle begins. But if they will stay in the narrows and go through it, coming out the other side, there is the birth of a greater sense of being, a more real you, a more real world. Now we do not expect you to understand all this. To some, staying in the narrows may make no sense at all, yet. But then, there are twelve months waiting to show you and to teach you all about the narrows and how to stay in them. {laughter} In this year, personally people will face what's real. Some will be ill prepared. Some will be inadequately prepared. And many will be very prepared. And not only will make their own way, but also they will leave a map for others to find a way through the narrows of responsible truth and responsible honesty to the other side—to a more real self, to a stronger, more real sense of being. You Will Deal with Resonance A second thing that is going to be so critical this year personally is that every individual, wittingly or unwittingly, is going to deal with resonance and resonant causation—which is ultimately the only causation, as so many times we've said. Its influence is becoming stronger and more profound, and therefore more visible. The old cause-and-effect paradigm still will work, but it is going to be a case of greater cause producing less effect. More and more, resonance is going to create the reality, leaving many confused: What is the world coming to? Ironically, some will abandon their very spirituality, because they are looking to it to provide cause and effect rather than resonance. Some of you will know people who have been so dedicated to whatever their spirituality is who will seem somehow to put it on a back burner. Oh, yeah, I used to meditate. Yeah, I used to. They will abandon it now, when perhaps it is more important than ever. You are going to see people pulling away, and you will do a double take: What in the world are you doing? And you are going to see others hopping on, and catching up in a matter of hours, days. {laughter} I spent 20 years, and they read a book last week that said you create your own reality, and now they know it! {laughter} They didn't go through all the causes and effects. They didn't hit every wall. They didn't go down every blind alley. They didn't trip over every? That's right. That's right. {laughter} Resonant causation. Unfair! {laughter} Is it really? Not really. For there has been a richness that they will never know. Some will hop off and some will hop on in response to resonance. Remember, spirituality is going to increase monumentally. It's going to become more talked about, more acceptable, more a part of the mainstream—the mainstream is changing. And ironically, some will hop off as many more hop on. Intimacy, love, caring. There will be those who will seemingly abandon it. And there will be those who will discover it more deeply and more richly, more beautifully than ever. There will be those who give in to entropy, and there will be those who rage (positively rage) against it, in the negentropy of intervening, of reversing the downward spiral of entropy. You will deal with resonance this year. Coming Face to Face with the Unknown People all over the world, in all walks of life, will come face to face with the unknown. The crumbling of the old structures will continue. Linear logic, linear reason, and linear intellect: they are beautiful and wonderful, but they are not enough anymore. You were promised that if you just were good—followed the rules, said please and thank you and opened the doors for the appropriate people—that somehow it would all work out. Those promises are falling apart. And as we've said before, the very templates that were so responsible for the survival of a human race, if not abandoned and replaced, can be responsible for its destruction. You were promised that if you just did what came naturally—if you did what society told you, looked out for yourself, dominated with a bit of power, controlled or manipulated through strength or weakness, it would all work out. You were told that if you just honored your past, if you just did it the way you were supposed to and were cynical enough and pessimistic enough and lowered your expectations enough, that somehow it would all work out. It would be safe. It would all be right. And, you see, those things are going to fall away. Not all at once, not totally, but bits and pieces here and there will fall away. Logic and reason as you have known it, and linear, chauvinistic consensus reality, will fall away. The safety and security that came from your own drives, from your own instincts, from your own needs and wants, are going to fall away. It is not that there will not be any safety and security, not that there will not be any promises, not that there will not be a logic, a reason and an intellect. But amid it all, you will need to face the unknown. And in so doing, people will discover what really matters to them. Oh, we are not talking the platitudes of spirituality as your highest priority. Certainly, that is true for so many of you. In practical, workable, pragmatic ways, people are going to come to grips with what really matters to them—what really is important to them. They will look around and ask themselves: Who am I living with? Who am I living around? Who are the people in my world? What is in my world? What is really important, really valuable to me? Facing the unknown. It is important to be willing to pursue what you do not understand, what does not make sense. If you will be one who is about to know rather than having to be one who always knows, you will have such an advantage. You will have such an edge to make the maps for others and for your world. Simplicity vs. Complexity In an international sense, there are those who say that the way to make the world safe is to have one world government, to have one language, one currency, one bank, one set of laws for everybody—one set of social mores for everybody. It would be a simple way to find oneness, so some would say. We would suggest no: Ironically that search for simplicity will produce more hardship and difficulty, and can be a tremendously destructive force in the world. Because, you see, it is not simplicity that makes life easy: it is complexity. Complexity is the balance of differentiation and integration, the balance of saying: I am an individual—unique, separate, diverse, different from any other individual that there is. And at the same time, I bring my uniqueness, my diversity, my differentiation to work together with you. Differentiation and integration: Complexity. Complexity is not found in one set of rules, it is found in a mass of diverse and different rules that you bring together. It is not found in one world government, but a world of many different governments, who take their differentiation, who own their separateness and difference, and bring that together to integrate it with all the other diversities in the world. Now that is very complex, but it is there that, ironically, you will find the survival, you will find the ease. Nationally, you will find complexity in your differences, your uniqueness, your separateness from the world and from each other—and yet at the same time you will bring that uniqueness and separateness together. See, it is not either-or. It is not either we are diverse, or we are integrated. No. The either-or view is seen with eyes that have lost their vision. It is both: You are individual and unique, and you come together. Both different and one. Differentiation and integration. It is a world of unique and individual nations, coming together for one world in their complexity, not the simplicity. It is individuals within a nation who are unique from that nation and yet bring themselves together. It is people who are diverse and individual who will own and respect and honor that uniqueness and then bring it to the table, bring it to the community, however you define it. That is complexity. And during this year 1995, people, even if they cannot understand the particulars of the words simplicity/complexity, are going to deal with each. And as we have so often said, if you want to find ease in your life, make it more complex. That can allow life to be easier and to become elegant. Where are you going to seek your joy? Where are you going to seek your wisdom? Where are you going to seek your truth? In simplicity or complexity? The international venue will reflect the necessity; the national scene will express the opportunity. And you, and peoples all over the world, will reflect and express the hope. And out of it will come vision and visioning, the next step. Beyond commitment, there is vision. We have looked at the backdrop or the foundation internationally, where necessity can give birth to vision; nationally, where opportunity can give birth to vision; and personally, where hope can give birth to vision and visioning. Earth Changes Now there will be those will tell you: 1995's IT (a big I, a big T). This is it. This is it. This is it. This is the year when it's all going to happen. They have been telling you that, of course, since the 1980's. The BIG ONE. The big one. The big one. Of course, in California you do not even have to say big one what? You know what it means. The BIG ONE. This is IT! {laughter} When it did not happen in the 1980s, then it became 1990 for sure. Well, it did not happen then. That just means it's 1991! Whoa! 1992: Now, well it's absolutely, 99% sure in 1993. Well, then it has to be 1994. 99.5% sure. Now it's 100%. It's IT. Not so. Not so. Denver is still not going to be seacoast. {laughter} California is not going to sink and go away. Nor are other parts of the world going to suffer the indignities that so many are so sure will happen. Certainly there are going to be difficulties. Certainly the weather is not suddenly going to become dramatically different. What we sense is this: that there will be, within the United States, three significant quakes this year. Two of them will be significant because of their size. One of them will be significant because of its location. Now there will be many quakes, there always are, whether they are quakes or aftershocks. But three of them as we sense it will stand out in your United States, two because of size, and one because of location. In the rest of the Americas it looks as if there will be, again, many small quakes, but two significant quakes. We sense perhaps that Mexico is still sitting precariously on that brink. And we would suggest here that we sense one in Colombia or Peru, though Colombia seems most likely, but not absolutely so. Five in the Western Hemisphere as we sense them. Now where are they going to be specifically located? What are the dates? You create your own reality. And you can mitigate this, as many of you know, as many of you have experienced. To say it's going to happen on this date, no, it is not that clear. And it would be less than responsible to say with clarity what is not clear. We are not going to tell you what highway to take out of town. It is not about running; it is not about fear choices. It is about creating your own reality. We sense this is what you are currently creating. We want you to mitigate it. We hope you will chose to do that. We would enjoy telling you that we were totally wrong about these quakes. Beyond this, we sense other quakes: One in Southern Europe, in the Mediterranean area, which will be significant and will have repercussions economically and politically. We sense three in the Far East. At least one looks like it will be in the area that is Indonesia. One seems very strongly likely in China. Another could be in Japan or the Philippines. Now, of course, there are going to be a lot of earthquakes, as there always are. But these three will stand out because of their size. So there will be nine earthquakes total that will have that kind of major impact. Then there is the issue of storms. Against all odds, there is another El Nino forming that is going to create impact upon the West Coast. It is going to have significant impact as far as too much and too little rain; its impact will not only alter patterns of precipitation it will alter patterns of heat and cold. The experts will tell you that there should not be an El Nino now. But there is and its disruptive impact will be more apparent than its positive impact. Beyond that, we sense there are four major storms. Now obviously, there will be many storms. Sometimes it will be hard to distinguish one from another. That's what winter is, right? But remember: entropy is speeding up. And two of the elements which are so much a part of entropy are heat and cold. Cold is a tremendous friend of entropy in slowing things down, in causing disintegration, in breaking apart. You will see more intense heat and cold. As a result, you will see two major cold storms—ice, snow, bitter intensity of cold, and the elements erupting around it. And there are going to be two hot storms. They can be hurricanes or hurricane-like if not officially labeled as such. Lots of water, lots of rain. There will be others, but these two will stand out as major storms in your United States. Two cold storms; two hot storms. Europe, and northern Europe particularly, will be hit. Russia: hit over and over again. It will have potentially devastating economic and social impact. We would suggest again China, with its volatility, is in for major storm activity. Japan is in for some two or three batterings from the sea. There will also be two significant incidents of volcanic activity. Not only will they be significant because of size, but also because of the foreboding quality about them. They are not going to create the summer without sun, but it looks like there will be two that will have an economic and foreboding impact that will stand out. Tectonic activity of a volcanic nature. Economies There are two issues around the economy that we want to suggest. 1) European: There will be certain things happening that will defy the experts. There will be certain breakdowns—like the friction of brakes stopping the mechanisms, stopping the machinery of the economic building and rebuilding in Europe. We sense a breakdown there. And even though there will be those encouraging you very strongly to put your money in Europe, we would be cautious. We would be very leery. We would be very watchful of the panacea kind of answers that just say, Throw money at it. There seem to be some breakdowns coming there. 2) United States: As part of the exposure or the disclosure aspect of this year, it seems (August/September) that certain information will become available that is going to indicate that all is not as good as you are being told it is. Maybe the economy is not really growing as the numbers on paper suggest. Maybe there has been some hanky-panky tampering with those the numbers. Maybe there has been some activity for the short-term benefit that indeed is giving you a false sense of well being. Therefore, we would suggest that August/September seems to be a time that the issue is going to be exposed or disclosed. What we mean as an example—and we aren't saying it will be this particularly—but, as an example: You are told now that many millions of jobs are being created. Over the last six months, or over the last quarter, x number of thousands of new jobs have been created. Now, your American economy has always thrived upon its manufacturing base. With all the industry, with all the other business, it has been manufacturing that has been your prime, your foundation. And American workers, despite the propaganda and publicity to the contrary, are still the most productive workers in the world. Despite the fact that you can get cheap labor in other parts of the world, nonetheless, the productivity of the American worker is as much as 30 to 50 times greater than the productivity in some other places. That is not a put-down of others; it is just a statement of your productivity. Manufacturing and productivity are your aces in the hole economically. When you hear there that x number of thousands of jobs have been created, the question becomes: Yes, but what is the caliber of those jobs? What is the pay of those jobs? If you are creating 50,000 non-manufacturing, minimum wage jobs, that is quite different from creating even 25,000 manufacturing jobs that offer a living wage. A decade or two ago, when a new job was created, someone could get that job and earn enough money to support themselves and the family. Now they may get the new job, but it does not pay enough. They need two or three of those new jobs to make enough money to support their family. Therefore, it can be deceptive. The above is an example of what we mean. There can be such disclosures and certain exposures that might suggest all is not as rosy as you have been led to believe. Fueling pessimism and cynicism, or providing opportunity to change. It is yours to choose. Also, you hear about how Asia is growing, and it is, certainly so. But it is also in for some growing pains. It is not going to be as simple as it has been in the last several years. Just to be aware: There is a disruptive energy there, and not all is as it appears. Therefore, be wary, be cautious, be alert. Realize: In this year vision is the key, vision holds the secret. Learn about vision and the visioning that are beyond the dreaming, beyond the programming—the vision and visioning which are a new way of seeing, a new way of experiencing. It can emerge out of necessity. It can emerge out of opportunity. And it can emerge, somewhere in between, out of hope. And it can be a year filled with the most wondrous surprises, and the most wonderful bounty and abundance that emerges from them. 1995: A Year of Vision. With love and peace.
