The Spirit World, part II

By Fred McNary

The first part of this article (in NMR 6:5) gave general instruction in dealing with spirits based on the author's experience. It ended with simple practices to exorcise a house. It continues now with a technique for more demanding cases.

One of the few people that deal with the obscure profession of exorcism is Al G. Manning. The following formula and procedure come from his book Helping Yourself with White Witchcraft:

Make up the following incense:
1 tsp Brimstone, powdered
1 tbsp Vanilla powder
1 tbsp Orris powder
1 tsp Jalop powder
2 tbsp Rosemary, powdered
1 pinch saltpeter
2 tbsp Charcoal, powdered
1 tbsp all purpose flour
dram Patchouli oil
dram Jasmine oil
1 oz Tincture of Benzoin

Powder the solid ingredients and mix well in a mortar and pestle. Mix the liquid ingredients and dissolve the Saltpeter in them. Add the solid ingredients to the liquid ingredients and stir into a thick mud-like mass. Spread the mixture in a tin or plastic box about inch thick. When it is nearly dry, cut it into incense cubes.

The exorcism ritual is performed for 9 consecutive nights, for best results. Light blue altar candles, attune with the Blue light, light your entity exorcising incense and chant:

Unwanted creatures, hear my word.
Away with you! Fly like a bird!
Leave us now by my command.
Within these walls you may not stand.
Go in peace I order thee,
And as my will so mote it be!
Blessed Be!

To sum up: Negative entities are as real as they can be (considering they have no bodies). They seem to have little regard for humans. They do try to cause trouble. They will try to take over the mind of humans, to degrade the free will of humans, to cause trouble and heartache to those around the person. But it is my considered opinion that anyone can resist them.

The primary requisite is courage—raw courage, a determination not to be overcome or overawed by any spirit, and a firm belief that a human can prevail over a spirit. You have the tools, and while you may not realize it (yet), that's all you need.

In the time that Anne and I have been involved in the spirit world, we have come to the attention of spirits (because of our dedication to the positive side) that have felt compelled to attack us. This is one of the seemingly instinctive (if that word even applies) traits of many negative entities. I hold that this is because the human race was created, while they were born (again, if that word even applies); thus, to their minds, we hold some sort of favored status.

The abilities of negative entities seem to be greater than ours, they are not subject to the limitations we humans have, and seemingly they envy our implied status. Remember that Ego, Greed, Lust, anger and a limited intellect are combined with jealousy, and we start to understand why they do what they do.

It becomes easy to understand how some religious people could form the idea of some spirits being Holy, and some spirits being Evil, given the black-or-white mind-set that most religions first theorized, then embraced as an ideal, then put in place as dogma. I marvel at how one century's blue-sky theory becomes The Holy Word of God in the next century.

If you look at religion as a whole, you find that there is no middle ground, it's either Holy or Evil. I note with some cynicism that what is called evil in the extreme in one religion is not so in another. And actions commendable in one religion are not looked on with as much favor in another. But accepting that there is a range of actualities consigns religion to less than the superior position it demands as its due.

During the time we have spent in dealing with spirits, we have suffered attacks that ranged from simple feelings of somehow being down, to full fledged attacks in the middle of the night that gave feelings of a buzzing sensation, a shivery feeling, an oppressive emotion from head to foot, attempts to cause pain in the body and most degrading of them all, attempts to have sex in an unnatural fashion.

As you progress in experience with these negatives, you learn the basic tactics they use. Usually, the first attack is one of a bluff. They try to overawe you with their Might and Majesty, to make you think they are so far above you in ability that there is no way you could resist them. Don't fall for that one!

If you have some quirk of character, a thing you like to do, a way of thinking that opens the door for them to try to enter, or a desire that may not be fully approved by society, they seem able to sense this trait. They try to use this to insinuate themselves into your mind.

If you use alcohol, or drugs, if you have more than a normal desire for sex, if you are very angry, or envious, this creates an opening into your mind. You can be open to a simple offer of power to distort events to your favor, to get even, to win. If you are not aware of the lurking entities that are looking for this chance, then they can begin an assault on your mental freedom. I have found that no one gets even, they get superior.

Having and holding deep seated religious feelings creates in some minds the conviction that they can't possibly be subject to this sort of thing. I hold that this conviction is untrue. Never say it can't happen to me—many times it does!

An egotistical conviction that you are one of the favored, one of the few that has found the one true path, is not a substitute for using the mind you have to defend yourself. Anne and I find that many of those convinced they are saved, born again, etc. are also the carriers of some rather nasty guests.

A lay preacher had become acquainted with a woman that comes to our house, and she had told him of some of the work we had done. Over the period of several months he had conducted a long-term assault on her beliefs to convert her to his belief system, which mostly consisted of reading the Bible and accepting what it said as the only word of God. He had the usual trappings of his type, a rock-solid conviction that he had the one and only way. He was a reformed drinker and drug user, and I applaud him for his reformation.

In his pathway to gain his faith, he had swallowed the Old Testament rubbish about the woman being the Vessel of iniquity, the source of Original Sin, and he could hardly be bothered with any women that were there as he spoke. Anne is of a militant turn of mind, and her irritation began at his first put-down of women. She grew angrier as he went on. Finally she grew so angry with him that she got up and left the table.

By this time I has also had enough, and brought the conversation to a close. We had been downgraded to less than human. We were steeped in sin, we were going to burn in Hell forever, we were lost, and we were...? If you have ever listened to a hellfire and brimstone sermon, you know what it's like. He left and returned shortly with a Biblical tract and a videotape he asked us to review. We said we would, and put them away, unreviewed.

That night, we had some people visiting us: a young woman with a good, strong mind and a high degree of psychic talent; and her male companion that could not be said to have the strongest mind in the world, since he had used strong drugs in the past. If I am correct, he used LSD and cocaine. In some cases, the use of mind-altering drugs tends to weaken the person on a mental level. In a few cases, it adds to their psychic abilities. This is not an endorsement for drugs—I find that those who don't use drugs have the strongest abilities.

As they left, he walked out the door before her. She had delayed to talk with us, and he was psychically attacked on our front porch, with enough energy to knock him backward into one of our front windows. He had been standing at the porch railing, and the attack struck him with enough force to make him stagger back about 6 or 7 feet.

He collided with one of our windows, broke the frame of the window, shattered the glass, and was unconscious on the porch floor. We brought him in the house, washed his face with cold water, and over a few minutes he started to recover.

Using the abilities that we could, we found that what had hit him was a negative sent by this preacher. It may come as a surprise to some that all psychic attacks (from humans) leave a trail behind them; and that trail can be followed straight back to the person that launched the attack. It was not that the preacher disliked that particular person, the thought form was there to attack anyone that came out that door—myself, Anne, or anyone.

Our property has a circle of protection around it, and our wards are supported by beings there for the purpose of protection. The only reason the entity was successful was the speed of the attack. I find that a lightning attack is sometimes successful because of its speed, but not always.

What is sometimes called the Law of Karma is, in part, a simple action-reaction of actions based on a course of less-than-desirable action being met by a turning-back of that action. If that action was the sending of negativity, the negative emotion rebounds to the sender with its own energy reinforced by its own anger. Remember that many negative entities are capable of independent thought. Frustrated is frustrated, on nearly any level.

If a thought-form is one of affection, affinity, empathy, and a degree of love, then that's what the sender gets back.

And the preacher? Well, it has been said that The Church is full of hypocrites. And it has been said that the reason this is said is the Church is full of hypocrites!

Awareness of a situation is the key to correcting any flaw in that situation. The old saying, If it ain't broke, don't fix it, fails to recognize that being broke has many forms and levels that need to be considered. The knowledge of the spirit world is the key to coping with attempts by that world to strong-arm you into doing what they want. (And what they want is rarely what is best for you or society.)

I hope it is clear that this world of positive/negative entities is quite real. It can't be measured, it can be dealt with; and the key to it is a tough, strong, aggressive mind determined to go its own way. Such struggles have been going on for centuries, every night and day. At stake, a human free will—one of our most precious gifts.

Good Luck, and Blessed Be!
