Worlds Collide! By Phaedron Between July 16th and 22nd, an unprecedented astronomical event shall culminate which will alter civilization. It is a onetime event of nature that no one has ever witnessed before, or will ever witness again. It's not a total solar eclipse or a unique planetary alignment, it's even rarer and esoterically more momentous. It has scientists appealing to spirit and will have spiritual leaders probing science. This is the event that will manifest the next step of humanity's development in this aeon. The event is a bizarre heavenly body which astronomers recently identified as comet-like and confirmed to be on a collision course with Jupiter. Carolyn Shoemaker (a famous comet discoverer) and the noted astronomer Levy spotted a strange intruder in our solar system at midnight of the Vernal Equinox of 1993. It was labeled Comet Shoemaker-Levy 9, even though it didn't exhibit the visual features of a comet. For one thing, the comet (SL-9) appeared too slow for a normal comet. Experts P. Forey and C. Fitzsimons define comets thus: Comets orbit the Sun, but unlike the planets, they have highly elliptical orbits. But SL-9 is not orbiting the Sun. It began orbiting Jupiter; and its orbit is not elliptical. Next, in August of '93, the Lunar and Planetary Lab in Tuscon reported that the Hubble telescope showed SL-9 was not a comet. It had no gas and actually reflected light. By that time the astronomical literature called it one of the strangest comets observed. It was said to have had five heads originally, then shortly thereafter broke up into 17 heads (where it stands as of 5/94). Scientists were in trouble; they had no explanation for this, so they hypothesized that the comet had broken apart 2 years before its discovery. (The scientist believes in coincidence. The magickian believes that forces are synchronized.) The unpredictable impact of the collision between Jupiter and SL-9 are conspicuously more profound than the world thinks. This article is a corroboration between scientific data and my own spiritual decoding of prophetic ciphers about this event and time. Only Coincidence? Or More? To appreciate the esoteric import of this approaching collision, it is helpful to know a little of the history of the coincidences associated with the discovery of this peculiar cigar shaped body called SL-9. When the distant SL-9 was discovered, the South Equatorial Belt on Jupiter disappeared. Another odd event, a transiting shadow on the face of Jupiter, was seen. Scientists described strange color activity where the belt used to be. Then, just above and below the missing belt, the great world observatories documented the presence of a series of new white spots. Also at this time, an astronomer in Maryland discovered a single prominent white spot where the belt used to be! This spot mimicked Jupiter's signature Great Red Spot. These, however, were not the only reactions to SL-9 on Jupiter around the Vernal Equinox of 1993. Symbolically, a baby was born on Jupiter—for the first time in history it had a Baby Red Spot (not unlike the baby at the end of the prophetic movie 2001). This strange anomaly lasted only 3 months and disappeared. Then when the sun entered Taurus (which represents one's own resources, identification with substance and productivity) all the planetary aberrations ceased until mid-July of that same year. For the Dog Days (which represent receptivity and initiation) the oval-shaped Great Red Spot which is the identity or soul of Jupiter (literally and astronomically) instantly grew some 20 longer. It seems as if Jupiter hasn't been the same since SL-9 entered our solar system. Day by day for the past year and 3 months this story continued to unfold. Some time after its discovery it was determined that SL-9 would collide with Jupiter on the dog days of this year with the force of between 250,000 and a billion megatons of TNT.1 Where is SL-9 expected to hit? On the night side of Jupiter, about 35 east longitude and 44 south latitude the same longitude as the Great Red Spot, and the same latitude as the white band.2 I have often considered if SL-9 could be a space craft, and have imagined that perhaps Jupiter was signaling this far away visitor. But, due to the Qabalistic synchronicities of this case, I tend to consider it the 11th planet which should be used in astrology. Astronomers would say it's the 10th planet, (excluding the sun and moon as planets) or 12th member of our solar system. Any way you describe it (10th, 11th, or 12th), it certainly will have unusual astrological attributions. So, astrologers who calculate for Chiron and other such things, what characteristics can you attribute to SL-9? One thing I am certain of: a higher entity has sent SL-9 for a reason. Here, briefly, are some of the things pointing to this. Unfortunately, time does not allow me to complete the deeper Qabalistic symbolisms this event deserves. It is overflowing with correspondences, but our race against the clock means I must leave you the exercise of discovering some of the more intricate dynamics on your own. The Case History Here is a history of the phenomena connected with SL-9: Vernal Equinox 1993: SL-9 is discovered. Also, the Southern Equatorial Belt (SEB) disappears. (Seb is the ancient Egyptian god of the earth.) Thus, this belt diminished on the `Mount Olympus (mountain of the gods who watch the world) of the solar system.' On the same day the infamous blizzard of '93 killed 93 people. (More deaths would follow in the ensuing storms and days. Fatalities culminated at 219.) Even temperate Alabama was surprisingly struck by the blizzard. Thirteen people died in a freak hotel fire in Chicago. Woodburn Oregon suffered a 5.3 to 5.7 Richter earthquake. Meanwhile, in the middle of the three famous pyramids at Giza, Egypt, was a strange internal explosion—cause unknown. (Everything from cleaning fluid to terrorism was dismissed as a possible cause.) This was a busy Equinox, to say the least! Midsummer (Summer Solstice) 1993: As the sun went into cancer on this day of celebrating Nature, the Baby Red Spot on Jupiter submerged (or perhaps expired). Dr. Standish of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, announced that the long suspected Planet X, the 10th planet (which I claim is actually SL-9) was lost. Scientists were so sure that they were on the trail of it that in 1984 they officially gave it the name Nemesis. On this same day when nature was at its apex, an undercurrent of her rebellion against human insolence surfaced in the Southwest U.S. with an outbreak of a new (new?) virus found in mice. According to the Center for Disease Control, this virus had already taken its toll on many people; and it is the same virus that killed thousands of soldiers in the 1950's, although it insidiously took 20 years to manifest. Scientists elsewhere began divulging the questionable results on soldiers of atomic testing in the 1950's. The supreme court ruled in favor of Santarians in Florida slitting the throats of 19 animals and then eating them 3 days later. On that same day, an alligator ate a boy in Hobe Sound, Florida. (Was Seb, the alligator, God angered?) Was this Red Spot 400,000,000 miles away from earth trying to tell us something? Dog Days, 1993: As the Great Red Spot was also absorbing the fierce energy of the sun, so did Okushiri, Japan, when firestorms appeared there with massive tidal waves generated from a big (magnitude 7.8) earthquake. A 5.6 quake broke apart southwest China. St. Joseph, Missouri was also flooded by the great Missouri river. The Washington Post said, The deluge in the Midwest is a freak event that scientists cannot explain! Of course other nearby states also shared this tragedy. The central point of creation is observed during the Dog Days, but established science was shaken when the Hubble space telescope saw something that just cannot be, but it is! The galaxy Andromeda, previously known to have a single nucleus, now showed two! The Dog Days emphasize human's communication with their higher genius. Dr. Durnham of Cleveland State University stated that they found an advanced Mayan civilization where there wasn't supposed to be any. (This puzzle remains unsolved. Perhaps technology should leave it to those who respect such things.) The children of the sun, so celebrated during this time of year, were the focal point in Chelyabinsk, Russia. Extreme radiation was found to originate in a children's camp, ITAR-Tass reported. It was a large swarm of radioactive bats! Bees are qabalistically attributed to the sun. Killer bees symbolize nature's karmic reaction to humans, and are becoming more common. A hideous swarm of African Killer Bees dove down on Harlingen Texas to spread more death, as reported by Kim Kaplan, spokesperson for the USDA, and pathologist Ruben Santos. The serpent represents wisdom to a harmonious human race on the first of the Dog days, but it meant death for a 15 year old boy in Commerce City, MO when an 11 foot python killed him. Supporting the idea that the animal kingdom is communicating within itself, on that same day another 12-foot python was found in Charlottesville, Virginia. No one knows where it came from. Should we think that Nature, or God, or whatever you want to call It is trying to tell us something, or should we assume that these odd occurrences are the norm? Is SL-9 just another sign that this slow process of reaction (often called Apocalypse) is here now? Is SL-9 a warning (like the Atlanteans were given before the flood, so that the wise ones would leave) that earth is ready for a similar impact? The government has set up a huge near miss program for obvious but quiet reasons. If they think such an occurrence can occur, then there must be a very strong basis. A Comet from 1886 In the 5 years that The Holy Order of the Winged Disk has monitored daily phenomena, never have we found such a correlation between unusual events and particular astronomical occurrences. Although never before has humanity witnessed a body collide with another planet, one other body broke up as a result of also coming too close to Jupiter. It reportedly happened in 1886 with comet Brooks-2. It seems the discovery and behavior of a comet triggers off historical events on earth. Not a near approach, as was thought about Halley's comet, for instance. Nature seems to work slow, compared to man's meager average 75 year life span. People think 75 years is a long time and that whatever happened a hundred years ago has nothing to do with today. But comet Brooks-2 from 1886 should not be forgotten. This comet is thought to have come too close to Jupiter and although it didn't collide, it did shatter from Jupiter's gravity. When this comet was discovered, Oregon was a recipient of its vibration, and suffered great earthquakes. Simultaneously a ship called the Oregon sank. Panama had major earthquakes at the same time. The Caribbean had weather still scientifically unexplained today, while tornadoes relentlessly pommeled the south and cyclones (yes actual cyclones) dominated Midwest Virginia. The coldest weather ever reported lingered throughout the U.S. Shortly thereafter, in Egypt, history making excavations at the sphinx were happening at precisely the same time that a priest at the excavation sight suddenly went mad for no apparent reason. While this was happening, Mount Etna erupted and a history-making flood barraged upstate New York. Then major earthquakes struck Greece, New Zealand, South Carolina and Mexico. The City of New York encountered freak gales that stand unmatched today. Then, further earthquakes took their morbid tolls on San Diego and New York. As if this were not enough, the Balkans, which were at war, conspired to kill the Czar! All at the time that Brooks-2 was said to have been defeated and broken up by a near miss with Jupiter. Was humanity on any different course then? We were defying the Laws of Nature at that time just as today. It seems like the only difference is that now we can do it better and faster. Knowing What to Expect Astronomical phenomena are astrologers' signposts of hidden energies. For example, a planet in a constellation does not affect people. It symbolizes a certain hidden energy, and informs us that certain forces are operating that we cannot see. Using this premise of magickal astrology,3 around the time of Shoemaker-Levy's impact this July, expect to see forced decisions made out of necessity—individually and globally. It will be a time of sudden recognition of one's relationship to deity, and of introspection. True Healers will become more recognized for their genuine acts and the holy way they perform them. Earth consciousness will abruptly be in the forefront. (And not just by Save the Planet groups. The establishment will concede!) Signs that the planet is sick will appear more blatantly. Anything to do with separation and division will be emphasized. Expect to see a devastating separation in the geology of the earth, where weak fault-lines will break apart. Ironically, at a time when world leaders should be pooling their resources, this July they, too, will separate. Look for `The Divided Nations' to be founded. Will each country decide its own resources are so depleted that they must hoard them rather than pool them? A serious problem of the earth will be discovered. It will be so grave that it will be difficult to cover-up for long. The environment will begin to exhibit strange effects on people, the impact of things like radiation will increase and be felt by everyone. Sudden changes will not give people time to think clearly and they will be especially impressionable. Psychism will be highlighted. Deep eruptions will rise up. Burying waste will be fruitless. The New Age will become more credible at that time, and sought after. Great damage will be done to the earth when SL-9 hits Jupiter. The collision will signal the earth weakening both by nature and the negligent acts of humanity. Shortages and famines will occur in various parts of the world. Serious deforestation will begin. Conspiracies will form secretly by enemy nations using herbal warfare at the expense of the earth. Traitors and hidden instabilities in humans and nature (especially the earth's structure) will erupt. Soil contamination will rise dramatically, affecting farmers. An accident afffecting the earth will occur, although secretly the biggest technological accident in history will be covered up. Solid foundations (like dams) will be at their weakest. Direct and indirect attacks will affect the planet so that farmers will be unable to plow their fields. People will have an unusually intense desire to express themselves; but again, that desire will be at the expense of the planet. Lessons will be well learned, but only after it is too late. Conflict between expression and welfare will lead to indiscriminate decisions. Attacks on aesthetics and morals will ensue. There will be earthquakes. Organized crime (and some non-organized crime) will form strongholds. Expect a UFO flap. Through the Eyes of a Magickian Gematria is an ancient practice in which every letter has a numerical value. The initiate learns to find wisdom through various numerical and psychic procedures. The gematria and other numerical correspondences connected with SL-9 are astounding! Will the SL-9 event be the end of our world? No, but it will affect us in the ways mentioned; but more important, its deeper teachings can help enlighten each person. Here are some simple preliminary numerical correspondences to SL-9. Again they are incomplete, for a thorough article on it would take more time than is available. These are not particularly the most important numbers, but just a sampling so you can see how this process works. Seb disappeared so that Harpokrates could be born (the baby Red Spot). As the Great Red Spot is the Greater Human (777), the baby is humanity establishing itself after the divine model (the Great Red Spot). The union of Nut and Seb produced Osiris and Horus! Nut is Chesed, Seb is Geburah and Horus is Tiphareth on the Qabalah. Seb's disappearance gives the energy to free ordinary humans, so they may attain. Seb gives nourishment to earth. He (Earth) gave Isis (Nature) the power to cure Harpocrates (new-man) from scorpions (evil). He crowned Horus as King. The ancients said that earthquakes are the tricky laughter of Seb. SL-9 was the most reflective comet seen in almost 20 years. Its magnitude (astronomical scale of brightness) on the night of its discovery was 13.8. 138=The Son of God =Bn Elohim =To divide. (This will be the beginning of this present civilization's division into those who elect to dwell on one side of the fence and those who select the other. There can be no fence sitting in this aeon. The bible says Christ came to divide, not unite.) It also means to pollute and he shall smite. Furthermore, in the qabalistic tradition 138 is the numeration of and between you as said in genesis. It is also as due and upon your people. Also be grown as if one is maturing. Leviticus says it is in his eye, as if Jupiter is God's eye of the new universe. (It has been said that telescopes in the new aeon will focus away from the solar deity (Christ) and turn to the deity of magickal love/unity (Jupiter) which shall signal the rise of ancient Egyptian tradition again.) In Numbers it is we shall inherit and the plague. Thus, the character of the energy that would prevail all this time is given in the number 138. Yet other correspondences repeatedly pop-up. For most of SL-9's existence, it had 17 heads (it was 17 pieces traveling in a train formation). The 17th path on the Tree of Life is the Tower, wherein a celestial blast destroys the falsehood of humans, so they may rebuild anew. The 17th Key, (that is card number 17, using the Fool as 0 in Crowley's deck) is The Star, depicting the union of above and below. The length of this train of comet fragments is measured in arc-minutes; the trailing dust train it produces is 17 arc-minutes long. It is the 27th comet Carolyn Shoemaker discovered; if we count the 10 Sephiroth as Paths, mathematically this would leave 17 remaining, suggesting the 17th card (Star) or 17th Path (Tower). The mysterious Red Spot which suddenly changed drastically was discovered 17 centuries after Christ. It usually is about 17,000 miles long. SL-9 is expected to finally become 22 pieces before impact. (One for each Path as the complete Tree of Life becomes Jupiter in its energy.) The name is Shoemaker Levy 9 consists of 13 letters; add to that its comet number, 9, and the total is 22. In other words, this is love (13) united to the letter which has a numeration of 9 (Samech), which represents humanity's shelter. This suggests love is humanity's shelter. (Love is essentially unity, i.e., transcending restriction that separates, especially that which separates the lower from the higher. Thus, the influences of SL-9 can be construed as humanity's shelter.) It was discovered in a universal year which equals 22 (1+9+9+3). SL-9 was the 5th comet of 1993 discovered. 1993+5=1+9+9+3+5=27. The first few days after its discovery, it only had 5 heads. Five represents a star with 5 points; this symbolizes humans (pictographically: outstretched arms, legs and head), the creation being each one unique, like a star—a direct replica of the Creator. The size of the conglomerate of (currently) 17 heads measures 51 arc seconds which reduces to 6. Like the 6 days that it took to create the earth, it is expected to take 6 days for all the pieces to hit Jupiter. For those familiar with Tarot, compare SL-9 to the Lovers card. So far it appears as if this occurrence will be the impetus for humanity to enter the new aeon. SL-9 transliterates into the letters Samech+Lamed and 9. The numerical value of Samech and Lamed plus 9 equals 99. This, according to Aleister Crowley is the equivalent to Last before completion, as if last sign before humanity's maturation. If we use the alternative letters Shin+Lamed+9, the total is 339. This means one who forges ahead; as smoke; I will send (Genesis 38:17); I will send away, and the darkness; and young ones. According to Crowley's 777 99= Pangs of birth, vault of heaven, clay of death (clay always means earth/soil) and knowledge. The Great Red Spot of Jupiter is Horus' center of love forming Ra Heru Khuti. The Lust card unites the two Sephiroth Chesed and Geburah. The letter and number assigned to the Lust card is Samech (9). Shoemaker Levy equals 617 when translated numerically. It is of the utmost importance here to observe once again the presence of 6 (harmony) and 17 (star)! 617= covenant, and you shall see. 617 added to the 9=626=5, again 617=5. (626=6+2+6=14, 14=1+4=5; 617=6+1+7=14, 14=1+4=5) Nostradamus and SL-9 What did Nostradamus' predictions say? I have only cross referenced SL-9 against the first fifth of his quatrains, however I found: During the time when the hairy star is apparent, the three great princes shall be made enemies, struck from heaven, place quaking from earth, Arne, Tiber, full of surges, serpents cast upon the shore. Mabus shall come, and soon after shall die. Didn't SL-9 come and soon die? It will die 18 months after its discovery. Of people and beasts shall be a horrible destruction. Shall be means that SL-9 will only forecast the destruction as a sign of prophecy. Then on a sudden the vengeance shall be seen. Nature's vengeance against humanity will occur via natural disasters such as earthquakes, great fires, etc. Blood, hand, thirst famine, when the comet shall run. During the short path of the comet, the blood red dot on the hand shall occur when the comet shall appear. The hand in Qabalistic ancient Hebrew is the word yod. Jupiter is assigned to yod. Further, Nostradamus says Thirst, famine. Could this be literal or perhaps allegorical for the state that humanity will be in after these occurrences here on earth? Destruction doesn't have to mean materially, as popularly thought. Revelations There are other forms of magickal prophecies that foretell humanity's future. Revelations, the very mystical part of the Bible, is the program for this new aeon which we have just entered. Adepts know how to follow this program, which foretells such events. It predicts a more magickal formula that will open the aeon. Here is such a magickal interpretation. It is a brief fragment of my own rewrite of Revelations as it should be understood. Just one simple cue was to look at chapter 17. Why 17? Because 17 seems to be a key number of SL-9. In this interpretation it is as if SL-9 is the great Whore, the Lust card, the letter tau, 9! It is she who gives herself to all people to share. Here are some excerpts: I will shew unto thee the judgment [Jupiter is the Law giver] of the great whore that sitteth upon many waters (crashes into the sea-like atmosphere). It talks about the kings of the earth. It also refers to a woman full of names of blasphemy, having 7 heads and 10 horns (7+10=17). It continues that the woman is decked with gold and precious stones and pearls. Astronomers always describe SL-9 as a string of pearls because of the way it looks in the telescope. Seven is the 7th Sephirah, Chesed/Jupiter (counting from the 10th Sephirah, Malkuth, upward) on the Tree of Life in the Qabalah. Conclusion Humanity is only one pole of Creation. We are the Ova; the sperm are the Elements. Thus, the new human will be fertilized for birth. That birth is the advent of the new human of the new aeon. So, the impact of SL-9 will be like a fertilization. The Elements are humanity's domain, thus they must be our initiator into the new aeon. Humanity's new focal point will not be the sun, but Jupiter (which is more like a star than a planet). I believe that such attention-getting events happen to the planet associated with each dawning aeon. This article is not meant to be philosophical. Just think for yourself about the simple, mechanical Laws of Nature—and what the reactions are to standing in a pond during a lightning storm. Defy nature and it has been proven to destroy. This is a significant tenet in the new aeon. Each person, individually, will have a role in the new energy that's starting to build. Like it or not, each person is now facing the decision (albeit very sublimely) to harmonize with the forces of creation, or to fight them. It is also said that each person has free choice. Nature cannot choose to exempt violators of the Law. She simply reacts. Lightning strikes the luxury buildings as well as those in the ghetto, as long as they are tall. But the short ones aren't as prone. The full explanation is in my book The Practica Arcanum. It will not advise you about what to believe. It will simply explain how the energy of Nature works, for your own use. Use your tools as you choose. Earth changes never happen in one day. They gradually occur. Even the reversal of the poles will take several years—but it will have the same consequences as if it did take one day. This misconception probably originated with the Day of Judgment. It won't happen in one day. Magickally we have already been living in the years of judgment. Over the course of time, though it may seem like these years were only a day. Note that judgment is a misconception too. Replace that word with, perhaps, karma. Each person will simply bear the results of their harmony with, or fight against the Gods themselves, who are impending in this current aeon. The little understood Magickal Apocalypse is now. There will accrue so many events demonstrating it, that this will even be the poplar consensus. Humanity is entering the Aeon of Horus. It will be hard, but rewarding. Now death of the old must occur, but then the Golden Age will follow. We now live in what has been prophesied for centuries as the Apocalypse. It is too lengthy to explain here to those who don't understand the often misused term. The religious promoters have totally muddled its real significance. However, come this July, a great change that can compare to none in recorded history will take place. Say goodbye to the old you, and hello to the new! Notes 1) The ancient Egyptians celebrated the Dog Days as being when Sirius, the most significant star in the heavens rises with the Sun. (See Robert Temple's Sirius Mystery.) A megaton is the power of some hydrogen bombs. 2) I would not find it surprising, however, if one of Jupiter's massive moons captured SL-9. I would probably be surprised by the result. Would it be our first moon of a moon? Or would it pulverize into a ring? Or would it smash the moon to smithereens, or perhaps out of orbit? 3) The pieces of SL-9 will be impacting from July 16 through July 22, so the event will include character changes in heavenly bodies (they will have time to move during the time period). Even though there are some schools of astrology that follow asteroids and unusual bodies, I believe this collision gives us a more esoteric form of astrology. (Especially for this modern assembly-line, high-tech, well-read and minimally-psychic time of astrology.)
