Astrological Forecast July August, 1994 By Terry Lamb, M.A. We are seeing many momentous processes emerge in human consciousness as the planetary cycles of 1994 develop. On the crest of this ever-changing wave of energy, we find ourselves and our nations evolving or resisting evolution: we can't stand still, individually or collectively. During this century, for the first time, we humans have become the dominant life force on the planet. While not intrinsically bad, it presents new challenges that we are only beginning to grapple with. We would be mistaken if we thought that these challenges and their resolutions are occurring only on the overt level of environmental issues, peace between nations and survival of endangered species. There is a profound inner process that involves the rapid evolution of new levels of consciousness. This evolution has its side effects, benefits and repercussions. Primary among its benefits is the development of greater awareness among earth's human inhabitants and the possibility of breaking through current destructive patterns for a sustainable manner of life that allows (Mother) nature to thrive. This breakthrough is not without its pain. The starving, suffering peoples around the world are shouldering great responsibility in this transformation, but we all ache to some extent with this task. I have spoken before of the physical symptoms that you might experience. Emotional and mental symptoms verge on the commonplace, and are so normal" that we cease to see them as in any way abnormal or significant of a larger pattern with a destination or consciousness to guide them. All this feeds back into factors that arose during the late 80’s as three major planets conjoined in Capricorn. Correlating with the end of the Cold War, resurgence of ethnic chaos and the first truly global movements, the impact of this convergence has yet to be completely understood because we are not yet through it! I have mentioned that 1994 is a time of founding and stabilizing the changes only conceptualized a few years to months ago. What these are, we can speculate on, but they come from soul/spirit levels of consciousness and therefore are not necessarily transparent to our understanding. Now that we are halfway through the year, I think we can see how the year is shaping up. Our tasks have form, meaning and destination. If you have found that your direction and timing are not what you had envisioned two years ago, you can be confident that you are still a member of the human race! July and August will bring the resolution of some issues and the emergence or continuance of others. JULY: We're Not Getting Older,
We're Getting Better! Compare this July to last July. Last year, we had the great floods of 1993. Mercury retrograde interacted menacingly with the Sun as it opposed the planetary wildcards, Uranus and Neptune. This year, the pressure is off. Although Mercury is retrograde as we enter July, it does not make those critical aspects. We could expect some flooding again, since Mercury finds itself once again in a water sign; but it does not trigger the extremes that occurred last year, because it does not make contact with Uranus and Neptune. We might notice some weather extremes during the retrograde (we usually do), and it may come with some extra water attached to it, but it is more likely to be full of thunder and lightning, since Jupiter will leave its mark on this Mercury period. Jupiter/Zeus, the god of thunder, may remind us of his power. Tornadoes may also abound, and the storm pattern be unremitting from around June 12th until July 6th. On the 1st, the activities which you began in mid-October, developed more fully (problems or happier events) around February 28th, and reached a crescendo around April 30th will be resolved (although not actually completed). There will certainly be a flurry of activity related to this through the middle of the month, possibly even lasting until the second week of August for particularly big or deep issues. This will have to do with prosperity, enterprise, learning/teaching and philosophy. It may carry with it some transformational influences. The new moon on the 7th may produce a temporary lull in activities lasting three to five days. It is a time for going within and developing your focus for the next lunar month. Let the focus well up from within, because the moon works with our instincts. On this moon, you will be working with the energy of Cancer. Cancer is the watery sign ruled by the moon; expect your emotions to speak to you at this time. If the skies are clear in the evening, you may notice Venus rising higher in the sky on each evening. She is moving farther ahead of the sun. But just as Icarus rose to high and fell into the sun, Venus will eventually descend into the fiery solar light. When we see Venus reach these heights, we know that her retrograde is not far off. Because she moves only slightly faster than the earth, she retrogrades less frequently than the other planets save one, Mars. Venus' cycle from retrograde to retrograde is about 18 months (that of Mars is 2 years). Venus will retrograde in October for 6 weeks. The next major events to arise in July come on the 13th through the 16th, when the wave of innovation and inspiration that enchanted us in January reaches its culmination. We might also be reminded that at the peak of this energy, the Northridge quake hit Los Angeles. I'm not saying that anything of the sort will hit again in July—the configuration which occurred then is not repeating—only that L.A. may finally be able to turn to other pursuits beyond cleanup and post-traumatic stress syndrome. There will be some activity with respect to the Middle Eastern peace process, since it has been triggered (in a positive way) in correlation with this cycle. On the 16th through the 22nd, fragments of a comet previously captured in Jupiter’s orbit will bombard Jupiter. We may be treated to a fairly spectacular light show as Jupiter goes through its transformation. This event coincides roughly with Jupiter's conjunction with the planet of transformation, Pluto. While we expect the experiences of this as an inner experience to be more subtle, there is no question that (in keeping with as above, so below") we will all undergo a transformational process in some manner which brings us in greater awareness of our soul. On the 17th, 18th and 19th, communication with loved ones and dealings with finances assume greater importance. If any obligations have been postponed, they are likely to come up on the 19th and 20th. However, with communication, they can be clarified and improved. On the 22nd, two events occur. The first is the full moon, the second consecutive one in Capricorn. That makes this moon a true blue moon. We have recently (in a historical sense) come to the celebration of a blue moon when two full moons occur within a single secular month. However, we know that secular months are based on the original cycle of lunar months, and that therefore the concept of the blue moon could only apply to the times when the moon is full within the same sign twice. This is truly a remarkable occurrence in the opportunities afforded the individual in their growth. We don't often get a second chance to address the same issue in consciousness, especially with the planets that are involved in these patterns. So celebrate well and make good use of the inner opportunities that arise. The world truly is a kinder place right now, so let yourself be guided into new enterprises. The second event of the day is the Sun's ingress into lazy Leo. Well, not all Leo's are lazy, but I know more than a few who, if given the chance, will gladly rest on their laurels! This is a time for enjoying those golden days of summer, when the harvest first begins to show its promise. The crops should be better this year, and renewal will be afoot. We may even see normal" weather and a few people on vacation! The energies of spiritualization will be building from the beginning of the month up to the 26th, when they will fall off rapidly (as all energies do after they peak). For those who are tuned in, this will open a doorway to new consciousness and interdimensional awareness. If you have been having any of those symptoms that I have mentioned, you can be sure that your biological transmitter is picking up the right signal. The rest of the month flows without major planetary incident, and you may actually get to rest and play during this time. AUGUST: Begin to Harvest Your Dreams August brings us to the celebration of the early harvest in the rites of Lughnasadh, or Lammas. Lugh, Celtic hero-god, rules this feast. Leap over the bonfires of summer and give affirmation to that which you wish to create at the Great Harvest. At the time of Lugh's feast, the Sun conjuncts Sirius, the Dog Star. This was the time when the Egyptians knew to prepare themselves for the great yearly flood that brought them life-sustaining silt for the next crop. We celebrate Lugh's Day on the 1st of August, but the astrological event which it celebrates (our being of the way through the yearly cycle) occurs on or around the 6th. Our attentions will unconsciously tend to highlight the 5th, however, since a profound planetary event occurs on that day. Give or take a few days, if you have had a lot of activity in mid-November, late February and mid-May, you are in for a treat now, as these situations begin to move toward resolution and completion. Grounding our healing/spiritual experiences and realities into our everyday existence is the thrust of the energies prevalent around the 9th. Since this occurs two days after the new moon, its potential is carried as a seed on the tide of the lunar cycle. This can be another time of upliftment if we are attuned to it. Clean up your diet and daily habits, sage your house, your car, meditate, do ritual, make affirmations anything you feel guided to do to accommodate this wave of light. One of the manifestations of this energy will be the hard push in Washington to pass healthcare legislation before November's election. It would probably be a better bill, were it passed before mid-October, but in typical unconsciousness, our lawmakers will leave cooperation to the last minute. It will end up watered down, with women's healthcare in some ways jeopardized. Even if the bill is not written expressly against women, it may penalize them as primary heads of household below the poverty line, etc. It will also end up not paying for itself and costing our nation much more than was ever projected; or, our lawmakers will be so concerned about cost that the bill will lack any teeth by the time it is passed and so not do much to solve the problems it was meant to address. Don't expect our lawmakers to make sweeping reforms, no matter what the cost, unless we people can reach a consensus on a clear mandate. It's not hopeless, but it will take much more disastrous events and extreme conditions before people will unite on priority, purpose and direction. It takes quite a series of events to break the hold of the ego on the will of the average person. It is possible (and some even say probable) that these events will be miraculous, not disastrous. Others say that what appears disastrous is actually miraculous. Mid-August sees the swift passage of days, with a decision point reached on the 11th and 12th. It will be more of a turning point than it might at first appear, so take this into consideration when signing on the dotted line. The 13th reveals some perhaps hidden factors of disruption come to the forefront. Remain calm. There is nothing here that wasn't part of the plan that didn't need to come out in some fashion. Wait this one out. The 15th will require action, perhaps even conflict. If so, there is a silver lining to the cloud, but there are some factors that will linger through the next year. The 18th brings out more of what arose on the 15th. Look for the signs of open conflict in the news. If you are on the lookout for signs of evolution in human consciousness, this is a good time to assess the view. If there are some situations that are resolving themselves, or some conflicts diverted, we are starting to move in the right direction. There was never a better day for conflict resolution than the 21st. This energy will carry over to the 22nd, even if a resolution cannot be reached at that time. Look for peace to arise on the 23rd through the 29th. The patterns become more strident on the 30th and 31st, leading up to another crescendo on September 1st. This peak will relate to activities and experiences that arose in late February and around June 22nd. The challenge is not mastered yet, but you are well on the way. July and August continue the vein of hope that pervades the atmosphere of 1994. Even if it is only the absence of disaster that thrills us, at least we have a broader perspective, within which happiness occupies more space. Blessed Be! |
