The Crystal Man:
Quartz
John Burchard
Probably the most unique thing about quartz is the number of varieties and colors found throughout the world. One thing common to all varieties of quartz is their hardness (about seven), which makes quartz suitable for jewelry and industrial use. Quartz crystals are highly pyro- and piezo-electrical. This is because quartz is the most pure form of silica. This conductivity and amplifying ability carries over to the metaphysical sciences as well. Quartz is a strong focus amplifier. The focus is determined by the rate of vibration or color through which it operates in its natural or static state. Consider some of the different variations of quartz crystals:
Clear quartz, called rock crystal, has a certain uniqueness in that it can focus any rate of vibration. It acts in the energy spectrum just as a prism acts in the light spectrum, breaking it down into the seven vibrations of color.
Rose Quartz, nicknamed Bohemian Ruby because of its deep pink color, is a great stone for focusing emotional harmony and balance. Rose quartz amplifies the energies associated with `long term love.'
Orange Quartz (Ferranginous Quartz) is distinct from Citrine. Its color comes from iron oxide, or rust. Orange quartz amplifies and focuses the energies that mental alertness. It is a good stone to carry when at school.
Yellow Quartz (Citrine) deals with a combination of energies that promote mental and spiritual creativity and growth.
Blue Quartz ("Sapphire Quartz" in its purest form) works well with the energies that amplify good communication with the Self and others. Blue quartz also helps one to improve one's self esteem and self-image.
Purple Quartz (Amethyst) focuses and amplifies the creative and spiritual energies in oneself.
Brown or Smoky Quartz is known as the truth stone. It helps amplify one's ability to evaluate oneself honestly.
Black or Drowsy Quartz (Morion) is renown for its ability to repel negativity. It is also an efficient grounding stone.
Quartz is also found in a variety of enclosed stones, which means the quartz crystals have grown around other elements. For example:
Quartz that contains tourmaline is "tourmalinated quartz."
Quartz that contains strands of gold is "goldstone quartz."
Quartz that contains rutile (titanium oxide) is "rutilated quartz."
In these cases, the quartz helps amplify the enclosed elements' virtues. I've covered only some of the most common varieties of quartz crystals. But it's a good start.
Go with the wisdom of the stones.
Ask the Crystal Man
Is there a special stone or crystal to help me with astral travel?
Thanks for an easy one. Try Kyanite.
The Peacock stone, what does it do?
Peacock stone is actually peacock copper ore and it has many uses. Because of its high copper content, it can be very helpful for arthritis. Because of the many varieties of color it contains, it works very well for meditation. |
