| Spirit of the Night By Yasmine F. Galenorn Dark of the Moon waning Moon stars burn overhead a million suns glowing in the night. Nasturtiums creep across my sidewalk they didn't think I'd see them. A faerie hides behind the geraniums the first time in years they've bloomed and a spider crawls up the rosebush, buds opening to Pan's Argentine pipes, and another and another, Agriope heaven. They rear, legs wide, when I reach out and shiver their webs. It is dark of the night and I am aware, soft vision playing strong. I want to run into the woods and make love to the Wild Man, King of the Heather. Ylang Ylang intoxicates my soul, the scent riding the wind from half-a-world away. Spirit of the Night, sweep me up in lunacy and bathe me in the dreams of the Sleeping Summer King. —Yasmine Feasil Galenorn |
