Astrological Forecast September October, 1993 Terry Lamb, M.A. We're almost across the bridge. The delicate transition began last August, and we'll have made it all the way across by the end of January next year. If you have felt like making changes anytime in the last year, you have doubtless experienced a force of mighty resistance. The side effects of being human typically ensue—frustration, feelings of defeat and hopelessness. If you know the laws of the universe, you know that all things must pass, and if you know astrology, you know when. Not that the resistance has been bad for us. I certainly will not say that it has been so good for Iowans and the others along the Mississippi River (or should we say Mississippi Lake?); but those of us overlooked by disaster may have had the opportunity to test our strength and resolve with goals and dreams that we have held since a year ago. I for one feel as though I have been in suspended animation. I have experienced every emotion known to the human species as my biggest plans and dreams have been placed on hold. To be sure, I have known of people able to breakthrough their obstacles, or even to experience ease in making changes, but they are not in the majority. This is one of those times when what does not kill me makes me stronger. There is a mighty struggle in consciousness taking place now between the old and the new. The new is upon all of us, but many people are having some difficulty letting go of the past and embracing the future when the prospects seem so foreign. This is what is happening in Washington. All the hubbub there is typical of what happens when a functional person takes a position of power among a dysfunctional group. In my estimation, Congress, media and insiders alike are all behaving like a bunch of toddlers. I hope that they will be able to overcome their fears and they can grow to trust the new administration. During September, we will feel a gradual release and a perhaps subtle openness to change, perhaps in the face of dire need. We may be able to detect a shift away from the now prevalent concept of the wounded leader in favor of another archetype, the wounded work force. In October, the changes shall be tested, and a glimmer of optimism returns to life in spite of everything. SEPTEMBER: September slips quietly into your life like a warm summer day; but it is a time to advantageously introduce new ideas and action plans, as you will generally encounter greater receptivity. You may be focused more on the seasonal activities associated with September, such as schools starting and Labor Day, rather than the larger issues and problem areas of your life. On the 3rd, people with an emphasis in Virgo in their charts will begin a 2-year transition period. Over the past three years, Virgos have had a relative break in their growth process. In fact, they have had the opportunity to make some sense of the changes now at hand and to capitalize on them. Now, however, a time to enact the changes more concretely is at hand. Never before has Virgo had the opportunity to put its ability to bring spirit into matter into such proficient and vital practice. It is proficient because Virgo now has one helper in the process (and by the end of January '94 it will have two). It is vital because others will not be able to understand what is happening quite as well. Pisces will be working with the same process, but they will feel it and live it more than be able to explain it. For the past two years of this planet's 50-year cycle, we have experienced a transition in leadership. This transition has been fraught with the drama of polarized individuals and groups, creating the infamous gridlock—which actually extends beyond our Congress into such arenas as the former Yugoslavia and the Russian parliament. The two-year period that begins on September 3rd will shift our focus into such areas as health, nutrition and the dynamic processes associated with fragmentation vs. wholeness. Around the world we can see the process of fragmentation occurring, in the breaking up of larger countries into smaller independent states and in the downsizing of large conglomerates and corporations into smaller, more manageable units. Daniel Patrick Moynihan makes note of this process in his new book Pandemonium. I feel that, although its roots lie in the revolutionary 60's, the next two years will see the pace of such changes quicken, spurred on by a frustrated work force-in-transition. The workforce of the world will be a virtual pressure cooker during this time, and those who are flexible will benefit. Education and entrepreneurship will be the keywords of success for people needing to shift away from a depleted or extinct industry. If NAFTA has not passed by the beginning of September, it will probably pass soon after that date. Its impact will be felt throughout North America on a very personal level; the overall effect will be to strengthen the U.S. and its neighbors in capturing their share of the global market. The short-term effect, primarily felt during the next two years, will be to create a stimulus to shift in areas of the economy; but it will also give the workforce places to shift to, since it will provide the framework for a blossoming of trade, and the workforce will eventually benefit as more opportunities open up. It is also during this period that the Clinton’s' health plan will be introduced, ratified and implemented. We can expect to see a belt-tightening in all health related industries, but the transition will be complete in less than three years if Congress enacts a bill by the first part of February. On the 4th, we will get a taste of what is to come in this vein. Take note of what happens on or around this date, as it will carry clues to what issues will arise for you over the next two years. People should be willing to make changes on this date, to go for the innovative and unusual. You may want to time your actions to take advantage of this openness. Openness and innovation becomes expansiveness on the 5th. You may notice that those around you are feeling very large today. Egos may flair if a person feels challenged, and bravado may reign. The opportunity to introduce or enact changes continues through the 7th. You may be surprised at how willing people are to step out of their comfort zones, especially if you can show them why they should. On the 8th some anxiety may surface, and it may be best to be silent during this time—talking won't be an effective means of communication until the 11th. The 9th may bring conflict out into the open, but remember that this is a step toward resolution. Diplomacy should be successful on the 10th. Adjustments made on the 11th to the peace plan will lay the groundwork for action on the 13th and 14th. This process may apply itself to any situation, large or small. How it impacts your life will depend on how large an issue you are engaged in before to this period. On the 15th, a new moon signals the start of the next lunar cycle, lasting 29 days. This seed planting day carries the energy of transformation, so the winds of change will blow across the entire lunar cycle. Some adjustments in verbiage, even communication style, will help you succeed on this cycle. This may be the right time to expect a miracle, since transcendent qualities will pervade this month. On the 17th, a spoiler may reveal themself, attempting to impose a structure on something you hold dear. It could dampen the feelings in a relationship. Communication won't help immediately, but it will plant the seeds for successful action producing breakthrough around the 19th. In fact, you could get a big breakthrough on or about that day. Starting on the 21st, relationships and diplomatic efforts will be enhanced by logic and a sincere display of a commitment to serve. Thought and communication on the 22nd will bring new insights and intuitive knowledge. There may be a disruptive feel about the events of the day, but the 23rd will bring understanding and agreement, if not compassion. On the 22nd, we once again celebrate the turning of the wheel with the Fall Equinox. This is the Great Harvest, when the rewards of the yearly cycle, begun at Yule last December, are completing themselves. Now we slip into the dark of the year, the time of letting go of the past and preparing for the next cycle. For the next month, our thoughts and objectives will turn to finding balancing and harmony. Relationships may take on a greater than normal importance and conflict vs. accord becomes a predominant theme. Compassion will be required on the 24th and 25th, but by late on the 26th, an opportunity for resolution through structured reasoning and planning will occur. All the ups and downs of September have been leading to one point in the month—a climax—which is reached, on the 27th through the 29th. This is a release point for a process or experience which began during the first week of January, reached a bottleneck during the last week of April, crescendoed on the 4th of July, and now will find its way to resolution by the end of the year. Principally, this has to do with the world economy as well as the faith and ability we have to accept something new on both an individual and a group level, in both daily life and in our most spiritual levels of consciousness. We are aided in the development of our awareness at this time by the full moon on the 30th, when maximum understanding and ability to act is available to us from our instinctual levels. OCTOBER: Transition supporting change is the key to the first week of October. We haven't had such a break in the planetary patterns for a long time. This is a week for inspiration and creativity, a time to further your plans—even if it is in a small way. In fact, from the 4th through the 7th, the opportunity for innovative ideas and action spawning change are unequaled. This period may plant the seed for some real changes, to which we will encounter resistance as early as the 8th. The seeds for the events on or near the 8th were planted long ago, for this is the beginning of Stage Three (of 4 stages) in the bridge-crossing process that I mentioned above. Look for the seeds of this time in August 1992 (Stage One) and March 19th of this year (Stage Two). This series of events marks the passage of a milestone in the 35-year cycle begun in 1981. Look back to that time for the real seeds of some of the things you are experiencing in 1993. This is the resistance pattern in the mighty forces governing changes in the basic structures of life, including government, economy and socio-cultural patterns. You can be sure that we will see the most discussion of the economy, taxes and the government's involvement in both, since the start of Reaganomics in 1981. While the thrust of this cycle can be seen as a balancing of the world economy and the disappearance of the Cold War, it will take another 23 years before this process nears completion. It is simply a process that takes time, and we cannot rush these things, no matter how desperate we feel during the times of struggle that inevitably arise. By the end of this time, we have the chance to be in a much better place than we are now, or were in when this cycle started in 1981. The die is not completely cast yet, since the cycle is still is its developing (waxing) phase. Look for this in your life as well. Although there is some awkwardness around the 10th, opportunity prevails from the 12th through the 20th. This energy of openness and optimism will mark the yearly cycle of enterprise that begins on the 18th. The theme of this cycle will be finding the balance of power. The economy will want to look better, but economic expansion will really be waiting in the wings until November of 1994; still, we will see the signs this coming year for the blossoming to come. We won't see a complete return to economic health for many years, and economic health will have been redefined by them, but the expansion beginning in 1994 will bring a big sigh of relief from many people and allow others to make what would otherwise be a treacherous passage more easily. On the 23rd, the Sun enters Scorpio, sign of power and intensity. This is the time of year when we all shed our traditional roles and dare to take on an alter (altar?) ego. We celebrate death and dying, for we need this force in life to destroy what is no longer relevant to our lives. It seems as if the whole of the time of Scorpio is full of transition and transformation as we ready ourselves for winter, the holidays and the new yearly cycle soon to come. People may be more withdrawn as they approach the season of hibernation and inner growth. On or around the 24th a challenge arises, a force of opposition to change that may carry racial overtones. Many of the conflicts around the world relate to battles over racial, ethnic or religious differences, and they may spring to life at this time. This will eventually help in their resolution. On the 27th, we experience the release of energy related to activities and plans which were begun in mid-February, came into focus around June 9th, and reached a critical point on August 19th. This has to do with structures, long-term planning and strategies, and responsibilities in our lives. The experiences you feel now will relate to the forces of resistance I have mentioned above. On the 30th, the Full Moon may seem especially potent, full of emotional tension and conflict; however, this is due to other planetary forces holding sway at that time. This is likely to bring out issues that have been festering or at least sleeping peacefully over the past 10 months. They will affect how we experience economics, relationships and values. On a global level, it will be felt in the conflicts already apparent around the world—especially those relating to economic tensions (immigration issues and so forth). Fortunately we'll only see development within the realm of already existing conflicts, not the outbreak of new ones. Traditional Samhain is celebrated on the 31st, a time of letting go of the old and banishing the irrelevant. The weekend of Hallowe'en will be a great time to fly in the face of tradition, worry and fear—to enjoy yourself and forget about the cares you may face in your normal waking state. September and October will see a gradual release of the pressures you may have been feeling for over a year. It's not the big shift we'd all like to see, but it is the first step toward better, happier times. It's important to look inside as much as possible for the serenity and hope that we can find there. We need to develop these skills not more than ever before. May peace, prosperity and serenity find and fulfill you. Blessed Be! |
