By now, 1993 is revealing itself to be a year whose impact will far exceed its length. Gone are the long goodbyes of the old ways of thinking. The new paradigm is here!

That doesn't mean we know what it is. In fact, it will be another 20 years at least before we can see with any perspective who we are becoming and what direction our current choices will be taking us. Yes, we are intelligent, intuitive beings who have qualities beyond the immediately evident; it is precisely these qualities that must be called upon to make the transition successful. I think we have already seen the path to certain success. We have a few world leaders in place who have the insight to lead us along it. However, we each have to make brave choices to live a little closer to the edge (as if we aren't already!) and to brave the unknown. We will have to learn to live in a world where transportation in individual vehicles is taken more carefully and with an expense to the driver that more closely matches the cost to the planet. We will have to give up our old technologies that are responsible for the creation of the ozone hole. We will have to make many more sacrifices and adjustments, or we will not be allowed to continue as a species on the planet, and our demise will be one of horrific suffering. I will again admonish you to watch After the Warming," a James Burke special from PBS to see some of the possible outcomes for a planet whose inhabitants attempted for a time to kill it.

If we let the health of the planet be our guide, we will surely be moving in the right direction in other areas. The use of fossil fuels, so problematic in our modern economy and central to its power structure, must surely fall by the wayside in the long run. If we respond honestly to this basic truth, we will be able to make changes sooner rather than later. It will be our inventiveness and courage to do things differently that will bring the solution(s) to any problem we now face. Right now this entrepreneurial spirit should be running high in those who have the strength to face this challenge with a can-do attitude.

Those of us who are tuned in to the planet know its pain. There is not a true Pagan out there who cannot feel it. Each of us must have our own unique role in the new paradigm. Every person is valuable; no one need be lost to the consciousness that is awakening. Always keep in mind that the mere observation and celebration of the cycles of the Sun, Earth and Moon contribute to bringing this new consciousness into manifestation.

In March and April, we will learn that there is no turning back to old ways and attitudes. We will see the release of some very interesting" times. Your big projects may finally proceed.

March:After two weeks of relative freedom to move and make progress, we enter March on a tentative note. The salient planetary energies force us to deal with temporary personal factors. If communications appear to be problematic at the beginning of the month, by the end of the month it will look more like relationships and values. On the 3rd, we will get some signals about some adjustments we must make. Again, resist the temptation to take precipitous steps to quell whatever issues arise. You will make wiser decisions with a clearer head as early as the next day, but if you can wait a couple more days, it may be advisable.

The Full Moon on the 8th surely brings release of this issue. The solution will lie in how to balance the real and the ideal. What seemed real before may not seem so now; or what seemed only imaginary may have a chance to become manifest. Don't expect the Grand Solution to happen now. We're still a few days short of completing the transition mentioned above. Look for a little delay in finishing tasks oriented around paperwork and any sort of commerce. Someone is likely to have forgotten to sign something.

Around the 10th, keep your eyes and ears open. An opportunity for change or growth may present itself. It may eventually manifest in a different form from what seems likely at first, but it does bear investigation. It is the first sign we will receive of what the New Beginning holds for us both globally and individually. If you do take the opportunity to act creatively at this time, you will be planting the seeds for later growth. Try to act with altruism, faith and individuality.

Although it is likely to be fairly trivial in impact, the last virus of the winter could be a factor during the first part of March. As always, if you have a need to detoxify physically or emotionally, the virus will allow you to do that. If it does strike you, accept it gracefully. You should take the time to rest, reflect and gather your energies for the next 4-month cycle, which begins March 8th.

Starting on the 11th, although you may have felt it earlier, we are entering a Venus" period. Your relationships and values will be put through the fire. The underlying issue, of course, is self-value. We can only value others as much as we value ourselves. Sometimes we use materialistic values to cover up or attempt to replace self-value. So if you love to shop, try loving yourself instead!

During this time, relationships will be up for renewal. A new focus will be set which will last for 18 months. Areas of conflict are more likely to arise now; it may feel a little like the Mars period that we left behind us in February. Remember, self-love will underlie every issue which arises. Finally, major purchases may also come under scrutiny. If there are things you have planned to buy or put off buying, you may feel the urge to complete these purchases now, or you may decide to roll them over" to the next cycle. Of course, financial planning matters can and should be taken care of now as well.

This Venus period ends April 22nd, peaking on April 1st. I should take this opportunity to mention that there is a long-term planetary configuration which throwing all relationships, families and communities in general into a state of change. I feel that this will result in more family, relationship and community divorces" than we have seen for quite some time, but it is for the good in most instances. Often, in these times of embracing a new paradigm, when some members of a group embrace the changes and the others do not (or not at the same pace), the vibrational differences almost require a split, where until that time the differences could be tolerated. However, now many people will have the experience of an awakening," that it is time to get on with it."

Around the 11th will be the most strident part of the Venus period, since separative aspects occur at that time. However, peace and reconciliation lie just around the corner, on the 15th, although adjustments may be required on the 17th. Continue to allow your perspective to adjust; you may see things from an entirely different perspective by the 22nd.

The fact is, what arose around the 11th is either fodder for the issue(s) of the 19th, or will pale in comparison with what arises on this day before Spring. However, the 20th will be the time when action is most likely to occur. There will surely be some events of global import snaring our attention now. Crisis may arise in any of our global hot spots—Bosnia-Hercegovina, Iraq, Somalia, the old Soviet states. These events should help us keep our own troubles in perspective, even as we should try to do what we can when these situations arise, however meager our support may seem.

Indeed there is likely to be more need for foreign humanitarian aid in Somalia or other areas of the world. There will be developments in areas where this aid is already being bestowed around the 22nd.

Don't let the momentous events around you distract you from the change of the seasons. We are at the Equinox now (the 20th), ready the burst into full growth. It's time to begin acting on those plans long held inside during the dark of the year. Now, when the balance of light and dark is equal, is an excellent time to set" the energy of your projects, to make a commitment to their fulfillment.

Things will finally be able to move forward in our lives beginning the 22nd. If you felt like you were in a holding pattern, the release should come now on some levels. (There is still the Venus period in effect until April 22nd, which will continue to put some aspects of life on hold.) This is a time when we will feel brave, renewed by the returning light and warmth of Spring, and hopeful that the future holds good things for us, in spite of present adversities.

By the end of March, we will be halfway through the transition period, halfway across the bridge to the New Beginning. Economically, the U.S. has begun to adjust to a new economic world order. The bastions of the old industrialized society are beginning to let go as their companies weaken. Smaller is better, service-oriented and well-educated is better. In other ways, we are nearly through the cleansing of old perspectives; new light, new life enters us, and we will respond to the newness with joy and vigor if we embrace it.

April:The 1st may bring tension and a feeling of burden coupled with a sense of renewal. It is more than the approach of Spring; we start a new 18-month cycle today. Take some time to set some economic and relationship goals for this cycle. These will be made unconsciously in any case, but if you want to be the master of your life, you can do so by consciously directing your focus at the beginnings of cycles. This cycle may be marked by a focus on altruism and a desire to live your philosophy through your everyday relationships and ways of using your resources, including money. We may also feel a sense of responsibility, a need to make commitments; but remember that you have 18 months to fulfill those commitments.

Around the 5th, you may notice an escapist tendency in the people around you—they may not want to deal with conflict just then. Certainly later would be better! However, on the 6th, or soon after, the Full Moon will bring such conflicts out of the woodwork. Tensions will suddenly run high until after the 16th. You can look at it as a time to get any remaining issues out in the open so you can deal with them. A problem defined is well on its way to being solved.

In fact, the energies of the 5th through the 16th are quite volatile, a peak period in a volatile year. Not everyone will experience this explosiveness—there are more benign and more evolved ways to enact it—but you are more than likely to hear about someone else having such an episode even if you escape it. Out of this can arise opportunity and a decision to push into the future, but it may come on like gangbusters in the process. This will bring a crisis in action. What action should you take? When should you take it? What people should be included in it? Relationships that need to break up will do so now. Those that make it through will have a renewed sense of commitment and a deeper appreciation for each other.

On a mundane level, some major headlines and milestone events are likely to occur during this time. Some of the hotspots which have been activated at this time of year in the past are Iraq (persecution of the Kurds), the disassembled Soviet Union and the hungry areas of the world. Any place where conflict is ongoing is likely to see a polarization of attitudes and actions. Resolution may arise out of the concentrated effort at reconciliation which ensues. Also possible is a heightened sense of opposition between the various factions in the new government of the Clinton era as they try to tackle hot issues like a national health care plan. Clinton may be involved in some heavy duty arm-twisting during this period.

On the 16th, something which began last August, came into high focus around December 6th, and reached a climax around February 8th, will release and finally move forward. This has to do with a transition or spiritual transformation that you have been making. The effects may be subtle, so watch for clues through what occurred on the above dates.

On the 19th, the Sun enters Taurus. People may seem more complacent now, and the difficulties of the first half of the month a dim memory. For the next month, you may be more concerned about comfort, a little less willing to accept challenge if the hope of immediate reward is not there. You may also be more practical, less impulsive. Enjoy the sensual delights of the season before it is time to move on to other things!

On the 20th, you understand some things from a new perspective. It is a day to take care of paperwork, correspondence and to do some journal writing. Anything from a heart-to-heart talk to a song in the shower will help the juices of awareness flow. There may be breakthroughs in negotiations today as well.

Expect a moment of quiet and rest on the 21st and 22nd. This brief respite is welcomed and well deserved in this active time. You may want to extend the period of inactivity through the 24th, even though on that day you may feel a certain amount of anxiety regarding actions not taken in response to commitments made in the past. Wait until the way is clear and all the information you can get is available to you.

Projects started around the first of the year will receive higher focus around the 22nd through the 25th. This involves the events which came up in the first half of April in some way.

Then we can all breathe a sigh of relief. We can kiss goodbye the emotionalism that has been with us since mid-September, when Mars went into Cancer. It's finally out of the cardinal cross! There's still much to work out regarding the year's process as April draws to a close, but you'll get another shot at understanding it on the 28th, 29th and 30th.

The third and fourth installments of 1993 will continue to bring us new possibilities and challenges. Novel approaches and attitudes may be called for. In spite of the newness, some things will carry over—the laws of the universe, the immutable cyclic processes and the mystery called life. There is no better time than now to experience the fullness of each day, the richness of each hour as the tapestry of life unfolds.

Blessed Be!
