Letters
Once again, we don't have much in the way of letters (thanks to our production schedule). We have had many positive responses, but it would be kind of embarrassing to print page after page of gushing praise. (We do love it, though!) If the Rose & Quill inspires any reactions or questions, please write to us. For this issue, we make do with another typical question. SR
I would like to do a ritual for prosperity. What do you suggest?
I assume that you mean a ritual to attract money when you say "prosperity." A favorite of mine is a candleburning exercise I designed for my candleburning magick class. Buy a yellow and dark blue candle of any sizea taper candle is usually sufficient. Obtain some bayberry or cedar oil to dress the candles.
Anoint both candles with the oil from the wick downward. You can do this by simply dabbing a little of the oil on your fingers and rub the candle thoroughly with the oil. It is usually a good idea to perform this ritual on a Thursday or Sunday; whichever is convenient for you.
When you have done this, mentally say to yourself what exactly it is you wish to obtain, by virtue of this candleburning rite. Some times it helps to write down what you believe keeps your objective from you. Then write down what changes you think you can make in yourself to change your present "luck." Once you have done this, willfully say aloud or mentally that you shall have your desire, and light both candles.
If your desires include a secure job, simply burn a black candle along with the yellow and blue candles. You can anoint the black candle in the same manner as your other candles.
Usually I have found within the next couple of days, money, gifts and wealth of all kinds finds its way into my life. The effect of this ritual seems to be more noticeable within the first week or two after I have performed it, but you can perform it as often as you desire. Remember, too, that magick is not a way around the mundane efforts necessary to accomplish your purpose. This ritual, as with all other types of magick, should aid your efforts. You always receive that which you give. JR |
