A Solstice Song for Summer

By M.D. Warner

Come all ye merry sons of May
And gather together singing, O children.
Fire on every hillside prance,
Light upon darkness, maidens dance
With a folderol, a derrydondey!

Gather ye herbs by moonlight fey,
Set in thy hats green leaves of corn
And let the ladies set the flaxen flower
In hair for Aphroditic power
Singing folderol, a derrydondey!

Follow now the solstice way.
The bonfires shine on every tor.
Cast the herbs on raging fire.
Leap through the flames for your desire,
Shouting folderol, a derrydondey!

—M. D. Warner
