Spirit Lover
Soft against my windowpane,
A gentle snow is falling.
Urgently, a secret voice,
Unto my heart is calling.
Holding deep within my soul,
A desperate longing to be free,
To cast aside the veil of dreams,
And raise my cup again with thee.
Quietly the music plays,
Painting pictures in my mind.
Your words of love come through to me,
In oh so many ways, I find.
In the hearth a fire glows,
Like laughing spirits dancing free.
I place my note into their hands,
And watch to bear it off to thee.
A seething warmth of deep desire,
Fills my body like a flame;
A presence felt and recognized,
As in my mind I speak your name.
So close our very spirits melt,
Into a spark of endless bliss,
And yet so far, my body longs,
To feel the passion of your kiss.
You send me visions in the night,
And messages I can't deny.
We breathe upon an open flame,
That we can never satisfy.
Softly, falls the ivory snow,
Like a blanket on the land.
Quietly, I breathe a sigh,
And feel a spirit take my hand.
