Astrological Forecast
May, June, 1991
Terry Lamb, M.A.
The Gulf War is over---or is it? The events of this conflict have been stunning in their astrological timing, and easy to predict (timing-wise) for astrologers like me who pay attention to the general trends in operation at the times of critical events. For instance, the events have been timed almost exactly to the major planetary events that we all experience: the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait occurred on the lunar eclipse in August. The avenues of negotiation were explored during the entire Mercury cycle which followed, from mid September until Christmas time. When Mars retrograded in October, the apparent need for the use of military force began to appear. When Jupiter began to retrograde at the end of November, motions began in that direction. Once the new Mercury cycle began to come into focus, Bush and his allies issued their deadline of January 15ththe exact date of the solar eclipse! The air war began the following day, the ground war, (though not officially) began with skirmishes and reconnaissance missions on the Full Moon Lunar Eclipse two weeks later.
Even though the conflict appears to be over, because the events surrounding the allied military offensive occurred on the eclipses, they will not be fully completed until the next eclipse period begins in July. I predicted that the Persian Gulf region would continue to be occupied by Allied forces until that timenow Bush is saying that all Americans will be back home by July 4th.
I had predicted in my last article that the effects of the war would not be fully felt until April. I still feel that this is true in terms of the environmental impact. This aspect of the war is grossly sickening, and will literally sicken that area of the world and the regions downwind for a decade, if not more. It will affect world weather patterns. That may provide temporary relief to some areas suffering from extreme weather, but ultimately it can do no good except to make us less able to deny the tremendous impact that environmental disaster can have on the earth. I say we ain't seen nothing yet from this aspect of the Gulf War, unfortunately.
It will be impossible for Iraq and Saddam Hussein to ever provide true reparation for these acts in any terms but the most purely karmic. Hussein could remain in power simply because the alternatives are worse than he appears to be.
The dysfunctionality that he displays in his nature is bone-chillingand not all that uncommon for those from cultures where abuses of various forms are widespread from a very early age. A person who has been abused has a difficult time not abusing, particularly if they have not been educated about the psychology of abuse. Certainly Hussein is an extreme example of what can become of an abused person, because he discovered how to capitalize on others' fears by finding defenses for his own. Those who have been abused and not healed (such as he) are unable to trust others, and are totally unable to negotiate, since their world exists only in terms of black and white issues. While the world community had to give Hussein a chance to negotiate, I was among the ranks of those pessimistic about that option, since Hussein's dysfunctionality is quite evident in everything he does. He has behaved quite predictably since the invasion of Iraq last August.
MAY: May's events open with Beltane, the traditional Maypole Festival. At this time, we have the opportunity to ask for what our hearts desire to come to fruition during the remainder of the solar cycle. It is a time for consecration of relationships, as the Lord and Lady are traditionally wed at this time. It is also a time to purify relationships of petty difficulties, allowing the Beltane fires to cleanse away such difficulties.
The actual Beltane festival may be overshadowed by the other world events occurring at this time, for the focus on the environment will never be greater. Still, in the early part of May we will get a sense that we have completed passage through a difficult period when man's inhumanity to man once again appalled us, but somehow we found a world of humanity, of heart to overwhelm such denial of our godliness.
We will also find at this time (around the 9th) that whatever was begun in early November 1990 and became challenging or problematic in mid-February will come to a climax now. Of course, this timing pattern can be applied to all levels of reality, from the international (universal?) to the personal. The theme here is transformationdeep change that affects every area of our lives when it finally hits us. You may notice that the world seems temporarily full of people watching out for their own hides based on their own petty principles. This passes quickly, however, after the 10th. The New Moon on May 13th carries a theme of right human relationship that will be played out over the coming month. During this time, we will be challenged to face our deepest fears, as it seems we have at this time of year for several years. There will be movement to break through blockages at this time however, so we may be uniquely equipped to overcome some of our fear-based responses to life. In fact, mid-May promises to bring much insight and growth to all. It may also provide some respite from the bleak economic picture that has constantly confronted us for the past year.
Be ready to let go of whatever plans and responsibilities you have been working with since the first of the year. Now is the time when Saturn begins to test the wisdom of these plans and show us where they may need changing. Knowing that we tend to expect too much and be too hard on ourselves, perhaps we can allow ourselves to accept Saturn's signals with flexibility and deal gently with ourselves. The end of May could see some people's passions get the best of them, but it can be a time of power for those who accept the feminine aspects of their nature.
Starting May 26th, we will be entering a period of rapid growth and optimism that will last about 2 months. Gold prices will soar, as will the prices of other commodities linked to gold, but not as high as they did in 1979.
The Full Moon in Gemini gives us the power to disperse the energies of the Wesak (Taurus) Full Moon through Right Human Relationships. It continues the theme of Beltane and makes May a month of focus on our interactions with others, if we so choose.
JUNE: The first part of June challenges us to rise above our petty energies and take responsibility for some thing, probably in relationships. We may need to pay special attention to nurturing an aspect of ourselves or others that we have been ignoring either out of unawareness or necessity. Now, finally, those health matters you have been postponing can be resolved.
We could characterize June as a time when we could all encounter some extraordinary challenges. From the 3rd through the 25th, we will be experiencing a rare double Yod, a planetary pattern that we first encountered in October and November of last year. Since this pattern carries the primary energies under which the Middle East Crisis flowered, I would expect to see further action at this time regarding that area. This would be resolving old issues but also raising new ones. Anything that comes up now, whether personal or universal, may not be resolved until the end of August, although you will see some relief by the end of this month. This will hit those with an emphasis in Gemini, Leo, Capricorn or Scorpio more than any other sign.
Especially critical dates will be the 7th-10th, 16th, 20th-21st and 25th. Look for some relief around the 12th and some breakthrough energy around the 14th. In particular, on the 14th, we begin a new 2-year cycle of expansion. You may notice some overconfidence running rampant for a few days here. In particular, the stock market and gold prices may go through a major rally.
Look for a culmination of this energy pattern to come with and following the Full Moon Lunar Eclipse on June 26th. You will also notice themes arising at this time that will take 6 months to complete.
In the meantime, let us not forget the Summer Solstice. Even though this is the longest day, it is also the time when the days begin to grow shorter, and so the darkness is again on the ascendancy. Symbolically, the Sun King once more yields to the Lord of Darkness and the Maiden becomes the Mother, as the inexorable cycle of life goes on.
This is also a time for being aware of what's to come: In July we encounter a new Solar Eclipse and yet another Lunar Eclipse (both are partial and therefore not as strong as usual). In August we begin a new Venus and a new Mercury cycle. So prepare for a shift in focus and the challenges we face during those months.
Do not be too concerned if these times of change seem to overwhelm us. We will make it through, and we will find our planet and ourselves in much better balance for the strife.
May we all find the path to our God/dess-Self! |
